The One (No Not that One)

December 12, 2012
Not The One (below), one but the one your partner/husband/friend with benefits has agreed if you ever meet (which is extremely unlikely) you can -' you know with' or I don't know, at least kiss.

Funny Things My Kid Says

December 1, 2012
Oliver cracks me up daily. Sometimes I wish I was writing a crazy children's TV series instead of a comedy about warring kebab shop owners...I'd have a lot of material from Mr Comedian I can tell you. Enjoys innit!

Dear Me…

November 28, 2012
Being a new mum is oh so rewarding but it can be challenging too-the recovery from birth, the sleepless nights,...

Besotted

November 21, 2012
You know when you look at your baby and see all the people you love in him and just melt. That. I'm totally besotted and walking on air. I feel like this all day, every day. Apart from the 4 am feed of course and when I can't watch Take Me Out without the subtitles on because the kid's wailing. Then, maybe, then, I'm slightly less besotted.

Birthday Weekend…

November 20, 2012
This year wasn't even a big birthday (I turned 32)-I know, I look 25 right, but it's true, deal with it. Seriously though, I feel super lucky that I was so spoilt by family and friends.

My Birthday & Blogiversary!

November 16, 2012
Wow, it's my blog's 2 Year blogiversary (well it was on the 10th but I'm combining it with my 32nd birthday) and I can't quite believe it: two whole years since my very first post and I'm no longer 16 anymore. Shucks.

Funny Things My Kid Says

November 12, 2012
...Oliver is often confused for a much older child as his language skills and vocabulary are pretty astounding. He's also bilingual (*proud face)...I actually started speaking at 6 months old (really-if you meet me, this won't surprise you, I talk a lot) so I think he might have taken after his Mama.

Back to Work…(a Bit)

October 30, 2012
When Alexander was 3 weeks old, I was asked if I could pop by and give a lecture on my career as a writer/director at the Northern Film School/Leeds Metropolitan University. Despite being pretty sleep deprived and foggy headed, I agreed. You see overall I felt great-I was buzzing from the birth and physically and emotionally strong enough to go in for a couple of hours.

Hello Baby

October 29, 2012
Priddy Books kindly sent 5 week old Alexander one of their books: 'hello baby' from their stimulating range of high contrast books for babies.

Vroom Vroom…

October 26, 2012
Oliver is the lucky recipient of a lot of my blogger perks and this bike from Kiddie Bikes really made his day. As soon as he saw it, he started shouting, " Wow look at my motorbike, I'm going to go so fast on it" before leaping straight on and literally 'vrooming' around the house on it.

Blonde Ambition…

October 25, 2012
No, not me. Not again. Been there, many times!

Autumnal Days

October 22, 2012
Autumn is my most loved season. I heart you Autumn. This much. *makes huge hands.

Back on the Saddle…Oliver and his Strider Bike

October 17, 2012
Sunday was a perfectly sunny Autumnal day so we hit the park to enjoy the rays. Oliver adores his Strider ST3 Balance Pre Bike kindly sent to us earlier in the year from Learning Early. You can watch his excitement at opening his present here.

It Only Takes One Mum…

October 15, 2012
To help spread the word in the blogging community about ONE-an advocacy organisation dedicated to fighting poverty in Africa, blogger Clare, from Seasider In The City, has devised a fun meme, taking the first letters from ONEMums (or ONEMoms) to create words or phrases that help explain what being a mum is to you.

Three Weeks Old Already…

October 14, 2012
I cannot believe little Alexander is 3 weeks old already-the days (and unbelievably the nights) have flown by.

Rich in life having discovered all this worry over Rich in life having discovered all this worry over age gaps when it comes to having kids is BS. I have a 16, 13 and 4 year old and the youngest has helped extend the older ones’ childhoods and
equally learns so much from her more mature siblings. They all love one another deeply and argue regardless. It’s still hard and wonderful because parenting can be as beautiful as it is brutal. That’s the paradox. There’s never a ‘right’ time when it comes to having babies, just the perfect time for your family. #siblings #honestparenting #agegapsiblings #pregnancy #viralmoment

Older mothers of children (Elder Millenials and Millenials) are now more likely to be better educated and wealthier than the older Baby Boomers and Gen X mothers and these advantages have a positive effect on children’s cognitive development 🙌. Researchers from the London School of Economics, Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research and University of Helsinki analysed information on more than 30,000 British people from three generations, born in 1958, 1970 and 2000-01. After grouping mothers by the ages at which they gave birth, the researchers analysed the results of cognitive assessments taken by their children when they were 10/11 years old.
