Hi, I’m Vicki, blogger, vlogger and #1 bestselling author of MumBoss®.
Welcome to my multi-award winning parenting and lifestyle blog, Honest Mum®, a space where I share my passions: family life, food, fashion, film, tech, business and travel.
A former TV and film director, I set up my blog in November 2010 while on maternity leave as way to help me rediscover my voice and regain confidence after suffering a traumatic birth. Blogging and vlogging soon became my full-time career taking my work from mostly behind the camera to firmly in front.
You might have seen me on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, BBC Breakfast or SKY News.
I feel privileged to be able to share my own experiences and expertise both here and in the press, with the goal to inspire other parents to become digital creatives themselves.
Becoming a professional blogger and vlogger is a stimulating, empowering and rewarding way to work around a family and has changed my life.
…I’m also currently developing several exciting projects for the screen, both big and small and my debut book Mumboss®, published by Piatkus/Little Brown/Hachette in May 2018 became a number 1 Amazon bestseller and listed in the top 10 business books written by women by the Independent. You can order it HERE.
I designed the Vicki bag with luxury bag company Keri Kit which is out now.
I’m proud to have made blogging history when I signed to be Jet2.com and Jet2holidays‘ first ever official digital ambassador (no one else in the UK at the time had represented an airline) and will never forget filming on my very own plane for the day!
I’ve featured or written for the below:
So who am I, exactly?
I’m an entrepreneurial, creative mum of of two who lives with her husband, Peter, and two young children, Oliver, 8 and Alexander, 6, in Windsor, Berkshire. I received a distinction in my MA in Screen Drama and Direction from Goldsmiths’ University of London aged 22 and I have worn many work hats over the years from teaching English GSCE and lecturing at universities to directing drama, documentaries, music videos and commercials before creating this platform here.
Making films and appearing on camera is a great love of mine.

When it comes to work-
I’ve written, directed, produced and featured in campaigns for a wide and diverse range of clients naming but a few here, including Google, Yahoo, Coca Cola, Skoda UK, Land Rover, Philips, Selfridges, Net-A-Porter, NIVEA UK, Boots, bareMinerals UK, Superdrug and many more.
I also regularly give keynote speeches and contribute to discussion panels about my career and the power of digital.
I’ve spoken about my experience of a traumatic birth in UK Parliament, and my entrepreneurial journey on a STEM panel at the House of Commons.
I’ve shared my insight into creating a personal brand at many events including Marie Claire’s Future Shapers Live, Mode’s Influencers panel at The Advertising Internet Bureau, Red Magazine’s Career in Tech day in association with SKY, BritMums Live and Passion into Pounds which I co-founded with Jessica Huie MBE which first launched in collaboration with Stylist Magazine’s #Reclaimyourlunchbreak campaign and later partnered with the British Library.
A career highlight was speaking at Mosaic, a charity founded by HRH The Prince of Wales as part of the Prince’s Trust where I gave a keynote speech on my career to three classes of primary school children. There, I spoke of going from a young, determined tween who would beg her father to hire VHS cameras from the local video shop to a multi-award winning director and blogger and vlogger.
I love that my online space allows me share all of my passions while enabling me to advocate for greater support for maternal mental health and flexible working.
