Style: Monochrome Love

June 27, 2014
I love a bit of monochrome and this summer Aztec style print dress in black and white from Dorothy Perkins simply makes me smile. It's comfortable enough to run around little people in but doesn't compromise on style!

My Time At BritMums Live

June 23, 2014
BritMums Live was a total and utter whirlwind of a weekend of which I'm not sure I'm even remotely recovered from, but I'll try to articulate my highlights for you here... It was a weekend sponsored by wine (literally) thanks to Lindeman's Wine so forgive me if I've forgotten anything or anyone.

The Roles We Play as Parents

June 18, 2014
So tonight as I cut my eldest, Oliver's hair (he's currently hairdresser-phobic) I realised that as parents we seem to take on many, MANY roles or jobs from wannabee Nicky Clarke's (more like Edward Scissorhands in my case although Oliver's locks are still long enough to pass for an American kid in a Gap advert-phew) to full time therapists for our kids and more...

Brazilian Style with Lucidez from Luxe-Layers

June 16, 2014
With the World Cup, we are all currently and right so- Brazil-crazy but let me tell you I've always been a fan of Brazilian fashion (food and film) and scored a goal of my own (sorry) when stunning Luxe-Layers, a beautiful boutique and online shop from my old neighbourhood Barnes in London contacted me to gift me this captivating dress by Rio based designer Lucidez. I'm in love....

Saying ‘Yes’ to Yoga and ‘No’ to No-Carbs

June 16, 2014
So for those that avidly read this blog (thanks Big Fat Greek Family), you'll know that I've followed a low-carb (sometimes no-carb when super strict) diet for a while to help get me back to my pre-'babies' body and it's worked, really well in fact and quickly (a matter of months)... as to be honest having PCOS means my body dislikes sugar anyway and white carbs (thanks insulin resistance) and I have to work REALLY HARD to lose weight although let's face it white carbs are no good for anyone...

My Tips for BritMums Live

I wholeheartedly LOVE BritMums Live and simply can't wait to head there this time next week for the biggest blogging conference in the UK.

Playing Mummies and Daddies

June 12, 2014
So last night I mentioned on social media that I often feel I'm just playing Mummies and Daddies, that I look at my cute kids then question whose they are-you see deep down I still feel 16. OK make that 18. Thankfully from the response I got online, it seems I'm not alone...

My Career as a Professional Blogger

June 11, 2014
I'm often asked what my career is and although I'm a trained, award winning filmmaker and adore directing, the last few years have seen me become a full time blogger, a career that happened organically and is one I LOVE.

The Jacques Vert Press Show

June 11, 2014
On the 2nd of July, I had a wonderfully girly day with my glam Mummy (another Mummy with style) in London as we attended the Jacques Vert press day at the very swanky No. 5 Cavendish Square.

Women are more likely to transmit intelligence genes to their children because they are carried on the X chromosome and women have two of these, while men only have one.

Despite taking into account several factors, from the participants education to their socio-economic status and beyond, the team still found the best predictor of intelligence was the IQ of the mother. #study #research #dad #iq #intelligence didyouknow factsdaily facts motheranddaughtertime momanddaughter momofthree girlmom boymom science

Did you know that research shows that children bor Did you know that research shows that children born to older mothers tend to show the most cognitive ability when in previous generations they typically showed less promise?
Older mothers of children (Elder Millenials and Millenials) are now more likely to be better educated and wealthier than the older Baby Boomers and Gen X mothers and these advantages have a positive effect on children’s cognitive development 🙌. Children born to older mothers tend to show the most cognitive ability nowadays, when in previous generations they typically showed less promise.
More details: mature mothers of children born at the turn of the new millennium are more likely to be better educated and wealthier than the older mothers of the Baby Boomers and Generation X before them. These advantages appear to have a positive effect on children’s cognitive development.
Researchers from the London School of Economics, Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research and University of Helsinki analysed information on more than 30,000 British people from three generations, born in 1958, 1970 and 2000-01. After grouping mothers by the ages at which they gave birth, the researchers analysed the results of cognitive assessments taken by their children when they were 10/11 years old. Children born in 2000-01 to mothers who gave birth in their late thirties scored the highest across all age groups in cognitive assessments. #research #facts #annehathaway #pregnancy #viral facts facts on facts explore page relatable over 40 moms mom life parenting father study
