The last few weeks have seen my usually pretty healthy way of eating go to pot, with lots more sugar finding its way into my diet from celebratory cakes to afternoon teas and far too much champagne (with my recent 10th wedding anniversary, my brother's engagement and baby cousin's birth)- making me feel sluggish, tired and really not my best, physically and mentally. I've less energy than usual, haven't been sleeping well and my PMT is worse than ever.
It's already Friday again with a new and long weekend upon us with the bank holiday in the UK (yay) so I thought I better share last weekend with you all, and quick!
I love reflecting on our weekends together, our precious family time, where we switch off from the week before, simply hang out, enjoy delicious food, at home, or out, and take in the lush Yorkshire countryside we live in and relax.
We're Greek Orthodox here (I was born in the UK, both my parents are originally Greek Cypriot), and as the Greek Orthodox Church uses the Julian calendar to calculate when Easter falls, not the Gregorian, our Easter fell last Sunday just gone, a week after English Easter.
We're a household of choccy-lovers so we're all egg-tremely (sorry) egg-xcited (and again) about Easter coming up and the chance to indulge in chocolate eggs!
I've worked with a Publicist for a while to help me with the load as my blogging business is rapidly expanding but I've always believed and practised promoting my own work whether that was filmmaking, my journalistic work to right now, as a full time professional blogger.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving for my US and Canadian friends and I'm proud to write that a large part of my readership are now actually based in America. I've always had an affinity with Americans, my closest friends at Uni were from LA, New York and Chicago and I miss them all madly (thank goodness for FB and the rare London or LA get together).
It might not surprise you that this family of foodies likes to indulge in life and there's no better time for a little luxury than Christmas is there?!
This Sunday I turn 34 and on the 10th my blog turned a whopping 4! Honest Mum was officially born on the 10th of November in 2010 but like to celebrate my very FIRST POST along with my birthday!
Yesterday was a whirlwind of a day as I spent it in London with my Mum (we arrived the night before) so I could speak on a prestigious panel for Mode Media first thing (Mode represent the display ads on my blogs) and set up this breakfast meeting with a panel on pro blogging and brand endorsement for a large audience of major UK brands.
Ok I realise it's a a BIG Hollywood-worthy TITLE, a grand old statement but it's the truth, really-changing my diet has changed my life!
I know, I know, I've written about my relationship and complete and utter love affair with food a lot here (along with sharing my recipes) but hear me out (again) recently I've had an epiphany, a change of heart somewhat, a shake up in my fridge and life.
I'm not the greatest sleeper, I never have been really and in the words of my mother my, "energy has always been boundless". My kids seemed to have taken after me (which is good and bad).
Last weekend saw my youngest son, Alexander turn 2, two whole years!
I know every parent on the planet says the same thing, but doesn't time fly, people?!
