This family LOVES Liverpool, I nearly studied English at the university there before opting for the bright lights of London and Goldsmiths, University of London- but now we live in Leeds, we like to visit it a lot-for culture, shopping, great food and family fun.
So my Oliver brings all the girls to the yard...and it's no doubt milk rather than milkshakes senoirs he's still at pre-school but funny nonetheless! Slowly I've noticed over the last few months in particular that young girls are starting to notice him. He's always been popular at nursery (in fact I remember a row of girls standing by the window waving his off aged 2 1/2) but it's becoming a little more obvious now!
Kids have honestly made me more creative. That's a fact.
I was of course creative before kids working as a screenwriter, director and magazine editor...you get the picture. I was born creative, baby.
Hear me out though, those kids took my creativity to another level.
Throughout history (and I've found throughout my life so far too), creativity arises and thrives within limitations, be it time, budget, tools/access, they exist and are are actually vital in making creativity happen.
Francine Bates is the Chief Executive of The Lullaby Trust, a national charity providing expert advice on safer sleep for babies, raising awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and supporting bereaved parents.
Oliver had a fabulous 3rd birthday party with a few friends yesterday (27 being a few *cough). Held at a well known private leisure centre it was Thomas the Tank Engine themed (O's obsessed with that excitable little train and declared on seeing his cake, "I'd like to eat the funnel and boiler first Mama"). I might have had to ask him to show me which part was the boiler. What?
You know when you look at your baby and see all the people you love in him and just melt. That. I'm totally besotted and walking on air. I feel like this all day, every day. Apart from the 4 am feed of course and when I can't watch Take Me Out without the subtitles on because the kid's wailing. Then, maybe, then, I'm slightly less besotted.
Baby Alexander was born on the 20th of September at 10.52am, weighing 8lbs 2. We are all truly besotted with our little man, especially big brother Oliver who utterly adores him. There are some very sweet pictures of the boys together on my FB Honest Mum page.
I was born and bred a Catholic. Growing up in West Ireland to an Irish Mother whose own family stemmed from a deeply religious background it was inevitable I would follow the same path. Admiration, of course, to my parents for continuing not only this upbringing when we moved to England, but in also making the effort (because as I have since found out it IS an effort) for my sisters and I, to be schooled in Catholic schools.
