To my BFF.
On International Women's Day I had the honour of attending the gala dinner for the launch of Girls I Rate, the brainchild of Carla Marie Williams: a round table of women within the creative industries who celebrate and support other women with an aim to forging and strengthening relationships between them.
Boys, as with girls, are individuals, their personalities and interests vary from child to child based on character, along with socio-economic and cultural influences- yet both sexes are frustratingly so often confined and limited, made to conform to stereotypical gender-specific notions (many archaic and not relevant to today) with children being defined by their sex, homogenised by assumptions and labels.
My mini fashionistas, Oliver and Alexander have excitingly been signed to become ambassadors for exquisite kids' shoe brand Pisemonas and as you can see here, they're certainly HUGE (little) fans of their new shoes.
I'm so incredibly proud and besotted with my boys Oliver, 5 and Alexander, 2, so this post is first and foremost for them: my darling sons, so they can one day reflect on the blog and know how loved they are and how much they enrich mine and my husband's lives.
I actually blogged this post on what the experts stated was the hottest day in July since records began!

I remembered something I read on facebook a few months back, today and it really grated on me. A woman I barely knew but met through other mothers, commented after her 20 week scan that she was, "relieved she was having another girl". It startled me a little.
