Cool Kids’ Style: Sun Protective Fashion For The Heatwave With Melijoe

I actually blogged this post on what the experts stated was the hottest day in July since records began!

Here in Yorkshire, the mercury had hit the 30 C mark, whilst down in London temperatures exceeded 36 C!

It’s days like that the ones that have followed that make me yearn for my own outdoor pool! Wishful thinking huh!?

I have just returned from a lovely 5 days away in Portugal with my mum and crazily it’s hotter in Leeds than it was there! In fact, according the Guardian it’s hotter in Yorkshire than Kingston Jamaica, LA and Miami too! Yeah, baby!

And despite the sweltering heat and lack of air con, I’m appreciating this weather while it lasts because it’s one big happy-maker and it really makes life that bit more wonderful be it breaking out the denim cut offs for the garden or al fresco dining. Lush, lush, lush!

Even sat working on the patio feels amazing! And my kids are absolutely loving the heatwave too, playing out in the garden and using the soaring temperature as an excuse to eat more ice cream than usual – the cheeky monkeys!

As wonderful as it is to spend time outdoors in the this glorious weather, we all know the dangers of the sun and in particular, protecting our little ones from its harmful UV rays.
