Summer is nearly here so I wanted to share some of my favourite trends of the season for children so you can start planning what to buy for your mini fashionistas.
Kid’s clothing has never been so stylish!
The garments I’ve featured are equally as gorgeous as the adults’ lines and also incorporate the season’s hottest trends. So from catwalk to the playground, here are the key fashion trends for Spring Summer 2015 and my top picks from children’s fashion site Melijoe.
This season’s colour is red and I mean BOLD, bright red. Think vibrant pillar box hues and vibrant tomato – the brighter the better basically. Both my boys really enjoy wearing red and what’s not to love!? It’s classic, fun and suits all – definitely a happy maker!
Bermuda shorts aren’t just for the beach and this fabulous Petit Bateau pair is perfect for stylish tots. They’re extremely versatile and also 100% cotton so they’ll keep kids cool during the warmer months. Pair with a plain bright blue t-shirt for the ultimate in boy’s colour blocking chic. Priced at £26.44
These baseball-esque boys swim shorts by John Galiano (£55.15) come with a cool tiger emblem on the rear pocket. Velcro fastenings and pockets make for easy access and use.
Part ballerina, part Dennis the Menace, this fabulous Junior Gautlier Asymmetrical striped cotton voile skirt (£83.10) is like a little piece of haute couture for your daughter’s wardrobe. I love the way the punky print contrasts the girly style. The perfect skirt for a 21st Century little princess.
Ballerina style was big news this season at Giorgio Armani, Valentino and Alberta Ferretti. Whilst I think the women’s dresses are utterly gorgeous, it’s a tricky trend for anyone over the age of 12 to pull off without looking like a sugar plum fairy.
It is however the perfect style for little girls and there so many beautiful ballet-inspired dresses on Melijoe, here are just a few of my favourites:
This Chipie dress is such as cutie patootie! It’s no wonder it’s one of Melijo’s bestsellers! From ballet class to the disco! I love the way the divine tulle skirt is complimented by the jazzy 80s style cotton jersey t-shirt. It’s priced at £45.33
You know that emoji that’s all heart eyes and wide-mouthed? Well that was literally my face when I saw this Stella McCartney Kids 2 in 1 dress. One is a chic grey tulle dress with multicoloured spots; the second, a cotton jersey with a frothy tulle skirt & cotton jersey lining. They can be worn separately or together. Priced at £56.66 – it’s fantastic value for two Stella McCartney dresses!! Dreamy!
Ballet style doesn’t have to mean pinks and nude hues though. How cool is this completely unique take on the trend from Agatha Ruiz De La Prada. The blue and acid yellow is a match made in colour heaven. £38.00
Denim never goes out of style, but this season it was a firm favourite with designers and seen all over the catwalk. Durable and easy to wash, denim is a great fabric for kids clothing!
Denim jackets are perfect for the cooler spring evenings. Everyone needs a levi denim jacket in their life – no matter what age you are! This unisex jacket starts at 3 years and is priced at £64.21
This Grecian style Ermanno Scervino denim and voile dress (£105.76) is great for the warmer months with stone-washed denim and delicate floral embroidery. One to pack for a holiday abroad.
These 3 Pommes denim shorts come with an elasticated waist band and are the perfect way for tiny tots to embrace the denim trend. It’s the smaller touches that take these shorts to another level with the subtle detail of the fluro pink stitching. Priced £18.89
All aboard! This season sees the return of the nautical trend (one of my personal favourites!). Expects lots of blues, whites and reds, stripes and quirky touches for the ultimate in riviera chic!
Few fashion houses nail the nautical trend like Tommy Hilfiger. The ultimate in American preppy style, this gorgeous dress (£59.68) comes with a cotton voile lining and subtle stitched logo on the hem.
Ahoy there matey! This Junior Gaultier sailor style t-shirt combines classic Breton stripes with a striking anchor-headphone print. Priced at £40.04.
Where better to embrace the nautical trend than on the beach! This delightful girl’s one piece by Kiwi comes with contrast azure blue belt and diamante anchor motif. Priced £37.02
Bold prints and in particular floral prints are massive for Spring/Summer 2015. Forget dainty designs, this season is all about bright graphic prints with contrasting palettes. Creative and playful, it’s the perfect trend for kids!
The Far-East meets English Rose Garden on this divine brocade dress. Dolce and Gabbana’s print’s are always on point and this one is no exception. Priced £283.30
I love the colour palette of this Kenzo Kid’s flared skirt. Made from braided cotton it has an adjustable waist band and is priced £52.88
One of my favourite ways of incorporating the bold pattern trend into Oliver and Alexander’s wardrobes is through accessories. Both sons love caps and this abstract print Dolce and Gabbana cap is on the wish list (£71.00).
So which is your favourite trend?
