Honest Mum holds a Slumberdown pillow

They might be invisible to human the eye, but if you suffer from allergies then you’ll definitely know all about dust mites.

These teeny tiny terrors are the bane of mine and my eldest son, Oliver’s lives as we both suffer from allergies, resulting in rashes, sinus problems, itching, sore eyes and sleepless nights.

Slumberdown Fresh & Healthy pillow and duvet-Honest Mum and her son Oliver sit on a bed

Hypo-allergenic bedding in this household is an essential and we’ve always turned to Slumberdown to keep this family healthy while we sleep.

So when Slumberdown got in touch asking us to review their new Fresh and Healthy bedding, I knew Oliver and I would be the perfect guinea pigs. We were sent pillows and king size duvets to test as Oliver luckily has a big bed for himself too #spoiltkid ;).

This innovative new bedding helps protect families against all the nasties that cause night time allergies and asthma attacks. They are ingenious.

Slumberdown

…If you’re squeamish you may want to look away now…as studies show that around 10 million dust mites live in the average bed!

And if that’s not enough to gross you out, in many cases up to a third of the weight of a two year-old pillow is made up of dust mites and dead skin cells.

Bleaurgh!

This is where Slumberdown come in…as their innovative new Fresh and Healthy range helps prevent dust mites from existing inside the bedding.

happy

Both Oliver and I slept very happily in Slumberdown’s Fresh and Healthy bedding. There wasn’t a single sniffle, scratch or sneeze all night – and somehow I even managed to avoid bedbug-related nightmares!

As well as protecting against allergies, the bedding is uber soft and comfortable. It’s filled with a luxuriously silky hollowfibre filling, while the pillows are deep-filled to offer firm support, making them ideal for side sleepers.

The only downside is that it does make getting out of bed that much harder! Snooze button on repeat!

Prices are also very family friendly, retailing at:

Duvets:

Kids Bed Set Cotbed Size £14.99

Bed in a Bag Set (includes single duvet and pillow) £14.99

Single Duvet Tog £19.99

Double Duvet Tog £24.99

King Size Duvet 10.5 Tog £29.99

Pillows from £9.99 for a pack of 2

I seriously can’t recommend Slumberdown’s anti-allergy range enough. Whether you have allergies or just want to have a comfortable (dust-mite free) night’s sleep like Alexander, 3 and my husband too – it’s the perfect bedding for the entire family.

happy mum and kids

Don’t miss our video review:

Slumberdown are also running a super fun competition for kids called #MiteyCreation, in which they’re asking parents to get their kids to draw, or create what they depict a dust mite to look like. The winning creation will be made into a real life stuffed toy for the child to keep!

Will be checking this out – R suffers from asthma and I definitely don’t like the idea of sharing a bed with millions of dust mites! The prices sound really reasonable so definitely worth the investment. Thanks for sharing and love Oliver’s imaginative dust mite! x

Oh these sound brilliant! We’re all rather sensitive and with my hubby suffering from asthma and my boys having hyper sensitive skin, I’ll definitely be on the look out for the Slumberdown range. And yeah, I’m totally grossed out by the thought of all these dust mites (logs off, while scratching self) 😉 Love your pics and that nightie’s in my colour x

It sounds like the ideal bedding for me. I suffer from allergies more and more and nights can be a real pain, although I use dust mite protection covers on all beds and pillows and wash pillows & duvets regularly / hover our beds. Just thinking about it makes me itchy, he he!

I’m so health conscious espesially when it comes to the girls. Freyja definitely suffers when she’s sleeping – breathing and coughing. I need to get them some extra duvets too! These are perfect, thanks lovely. Children sleeping is a must right? Means we sleep! LOVE Olivers drawing – talented boy. Will check out the competition, sounds amazing! Even if we don’t win, I am so buying these. Thanks lovely. Xx

It’s so important to get the right bedding, be it for comfort, allergies etc. Sounds like these are doing a great job for you and Oliver when it comes to protecting against allergies. Awesome wallpaper too! 🙂
