Pretty Presents For Your Loved Ones of Valentine’s Day

Pretty Presents For Your Loved Ones of Valentine’s Day

My family call me a magpie because I adore everything from sparkly diamonds to shiny silver, platinum, rose, white and antique gold jewellery, and every precious and semi precious gemstone there is when it comes to pretty presents.

My number one obsession is jewellery. This Christmas, Florence chose a ruby ring for me when we visited an antique jewellers together (it was her gift to me) and my husband upgraded my engagement ring for my 40th (2 years later as I took that long to find the one I wanted). I turned my original diamond into a necklace. I also received the most stunning pink sapphire and diamond ring when Florence was born to mark the birth of my first daughter and I wear blue sapphires in my ears representing my two older sons. My husband knows that jewellery, precious or costume is always a good idea when it comes to buying for me, especially with Valentine’s Day coming up soon! I recently had an extra ear piercing so I now have three holes in each ear. I wear larger earrings in the first like hoops which stand out against my long hair, my second hosts diamond studs I inherited from my beloved late aunt and the third are the aformentioned sapphires representing my sons.

Jewellery must be meaningful to me. That’s what makes it sentimental. It reflects a milestone, a loved one or a special moment in my life. I’ve also become eclectic and wear all metals now rather than sticking solely to platinum as before. I caught the jewellery bug from my Mum and distinctly remember trawling through her collection as a child. My favourite piece of hers is a heavy gold charm bracelet that was given to her as a child from her parents, that she would like me to have one day, and I’ve kept the tradition going by buying charm jewellery for Florence, my three year old, that she can wear when she’s a little older, on special occasions. Whenever I buy anything, I think of my children inheriting pieces potentially for their own children.

Now back to Valentine’s so you can send this post to your loved ones for inspiration-ha. There are lots of meaningful suggestions for yourself, your partners, friends and even your kids because Valentine’s should celebrate all love, not just romantic love!

Charms and Charm Bracelets

I discovered GNOCE Jewellery recently who have a huge collection of pretty charm bracelets and charms in all metals, and below are some of my favourites in case you were looking to buy for either yourself or your children. With everything from personalised charms to Zodiac signs, children’s cartoon characters like Peanuts and Charlie Brown charms as well as necklace, rings and pendants, I know you will love this brand as much as I do!

Flowers

Second to jewellery or perhaps on a par, are flowers. There’s not a flower I dislike and receiving a bunch by post or by hand would be a welcome gift. I have started sending olive trees as gifts to friends or even wedding presents as they reflect my own Greek ancestry and represent health, peace and good fortune. Check online for special offers or codes before you order as there’s always a deal to be had.

Jewellery Boxes and Stands

I love a jewellery box or stand and some come with mirrors now and lots of compartments. I’m a neat freak and like order in my house whether that’s jewellery, shoes, clothes, homeware and toys. If my house feels cluttered, I cannot rest. As a child my jewellery box with musical ballerina was my prized possession. Stands are ideal for hanging necklaces and stopping them from becoming tangled and they come in all sorts of sizes. A box or stand on a dressing table or side table always looks organised and stylish in my opinion. Ditto when it comes to men’s jewellery and watches.

Buy a Star

You read that right, you can buy your loved one a visible star which you can name after them. Perfect for space and astrology fans, or to simply mark a special person’s relationship to you or milestone, this is present is truly out of this world! Show someone that you love them from the moon to the stars and back again.

Framed Photos

This one drives my husband berserk as I’m constantly printing photos and framing them to the point no surface in our home is safe. Ditto with hanging photos too and of course, these are mostly of my children. I think the only one we have as a couple is of our wedding day. My husband is pretty camera-shy! Albums are a wonderful way to document family photos too and to give as gifts to relatives. Whilst storing digital photos is beneficial, nothing beats printing and framing for posterity in my opinion.

Book a Day Tri

Consider your loved ones’ interests and book a special day out be it a trip to an art gallery, museum or even a spa day. I still remember the perfect present my boyfriend, now husband arranged for me for my birthday when we first met at the most luxurious spa imaginable. He’d bought a day treatment for me and I’ve never felt more relaxed. He went on to marry me so I’d recommend a spa day for anyone looking to seal the deal this Valentine’s Day!
