It was an ABSOLUTE dream come true to collaborate with my all-time favourite hair brand Charles Worthington recently and their creative genius of an ambassador, renowned hairstylist to the stars Ken O’Rourke who styled my hair in a series of party season tutorials showing me how to ‘do it myself’ -and you guys too, of course.
Using the utterly ah-mazing Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce range my hair has hands-down, NEVER felt softer or bouncier, and I know you will all adore the range and recreating the quick and easy yet utterly glamorous styles below (with a nod to my favourite royals Kate and Meghan who give me #hairgoals every single day)!
In this post, I share the how-to directions from Ken himself, along with 3 video tutorials so you can follow along, creating high glamour, statement styles that will absolutely STUN this Christmas.
I’m a busy mum just like you but see a little time spent on my hair and make-up as self-care which goes a long way when it comes to boosting my confidence and making me feel party-ready.
I equally, loved being pushed out of my comfort zone here with an up-do I wouldn’t usually feel confident either creating myself or rocking but truly LOVE, and I can’t wait to showcase these looks at festive drinks with girlfriends, family dinners and work parties over Christmas, the New Year and beyond.
I’m inspired!
Let me know if you try out the styles, and to win an bundle of Charles Worthington Volume + Bounce range for the party season worth £150 enter below and follow the entry requirements.
Party Season Tutorials with Ken O’Rourke
Bouncy Curls
Step 1: Apply Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Body Booster Mousse (RRP £5.99) along with the Volume & Bounce Express Blow Dry Primer and rough dry in an upwards motion with a large round brush to create a lived in voluminous natural texture
Step 2: Curl hair with curling irons (1.5”) – taking a strand of hair and wrapping tightly around the iron, hold in place for a few seconds and unravel and allow to drop.
Step 3: Once curls have cooled down, let the parting fall naturally whilst pulling curls out with fingers for a bouncier look, brush the curls out with a paddle brush. Tilt head to one side and spray Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray (RRP £6.99) from the inside to create volume and natural-looking texture.
Low Ponytail
Step 1: Prep hair with Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Express Blow Dry Primer
Step 2: Blow dry product in using a round brush to smooth the hair out
Step 3: Take a section of hair from behind each ear and bring to the top of the crown, backcomb underneath to add body
Step 4: Smooth hair back into a low ponytail away from the face, securing hair at the nape with an elastic
Step 5: Once secured in place, run a handful of Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Body Booster Mousse (RRP £5.99) through the ponytail and rough dry in – It’s like building a house…without cement, you don’t have the foundation
Step 6: Backcomb the ponytail to create texture and movement and for those curls, take a 1” curling wand to curl sections of the pony, brush out and finish with Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Perfect Finish Hairspray (RRP £6.99) spraying in an upwards motion
Step 7: Apply Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Hair Oil (RRP £6.99) onto a Maison Pearson brush to smooth over any fly–aways and add lashings of gloss and shine.
60s Up Do
Step 1: Apply Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Body Booster Mousse (RRP £5.99) combined with Volume & Bounce Express Blow Dry Primer (RRP £6.99) and blow-dry in to give hair bite and structure so that the style will stay in place
Step 2: Pull the hair up from ear to ear, backcomb at the crown and secure with an elastic in a high ponytail (leaving the front sections down)
Step 3: Smooth over with an evo brush back towards the nape. Fold your hair over making a large bun and secure with bobby pins.
Step 4: Take a large hairband and place on your forehead, take the remaining hair and secure it around the bun, pinning in with kirby grips.
Step 5: Push the headband back to meet the bun, away from the hairline – giving it a more 60s vibe. Pull random strands of hair out from the front though to keep it modern
Step 6: Secure the look with Charles Worthington Diamond Shine Hairspray (RRP £6.99)
I love all of these looks! Thank you Ken O’Rourke and Charles Worthington!
