We love apple pie in this house (I mean who doesn’t love an apple pie?) but being a family who limits their gluten intake, this gluten-free apple pie alternative is just the ticket for us. Using Jus-Rol™’s new Gluten-Free Puff Pastry truly makes it easy as pie (sorry)! to make this mouthwatering-ly tangy apple pie, in minutes.
With the pastry already made and rolled out, you simply apply one sheet to the bottom of your pie dish, adding your apple mixture over it, before creating the top layer with another sheet of pastry. Told you it was easy.
The pastry is crispy and delicious, so much so, you’ll never tell this apple pie isn’t a standard gluten heavy dessert just like your mama used to make.
Ah-mazing! With only a few ingredients, this is one quick, easy and lick your lips tasty treat, ideally gobbled in front of the fire topped with squirty cream or scoops of vanilla ice cream to make you smile.
- 2x Jus-Rol™ Gluten-Free Puff Pastry 280g pack
- 3 bramley cooking apples, thickly chopped, stewed (sprinkled with sugar, 3 tbsp water) and cooled.
- 1 Lemon, juice and rind
- 100 g Caster sugar
- 2 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 10 ml Water, for brushing
Preheat oven to 200ºC (180ºC fan assisted)/400ºF/Gas 6. Cover a shallow pie plate with 1 packet of pastry. Place the other packet in the fridge to cool. Add the stewed apples onto the pastry base, squeeze lemon over the mixture and add the majority of sugar (leaving a little to sprinkle onto the top) and cinnamon.
Remove pastry from the fridge and cover the dish, creating a top, squeezing round the edges.
Brush with water and add the sugar. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm with single or double cream or ice cream. Delicious!
