What I Wore: Vintage Style In East London

Last Wednesday saw me head to East London for a number of meetings and events at Ace Hotel and Shoreditch House.

The mercury had dropped and the icy air required my favourite winter coat, which I briefly showcased on the blog last year as part of a campaign with Superdrug, but it’s just so beautiful, it deserved a dedicated post in its own right!

This stunning 1940s vintage coat was a gift from my Mama. She has the best collection of vintage coats which she kindly handed down to me recently and I love them all! I’ve noticed she’s hung onto the divine D&G one I had my eyes on. There’s always time Mama!

This knee length beauty is made from the most luxurious velvet material, so soft to the touch and the cream faux fur collar simply oozes Hollywood glamour!

I can just imagine Liz Taylor wearing something similar on her dates with Richard Burton (although probably with more diamonds – natch).

The dress is a striped bodycon number I picked up from a boutique in West London a million years ago and has no label in it. Bad style blogger!

…I love the energy of East London. The capital’s creative hub, it’s got such a vibrant buzz to it. I lived in the area after uni with a girlfriend before meeting my husband Peter and I call those carefree days spent in bars and clubs the ‘wild days’.

I need one of those crazy nights out again soon!

And a shopping trip in the borough.

It’s home to the BEST vintage shops in the UK in my opinion!

The coat is oversized and oh-so warm and those brown 70’s style boots c/o Jones Bootmaker, reflecting a different era from the coat, granted, make for a vintage style mash up that works, I reckon.
