Wonderful Women With Fashion Designer Pearl Lowe

For the latest edition of Wonderful Women, I’m excited to share my interview with fashion designer and former singer/songwriter, Pearl Lowe.

Pearl was the vocalist in the 90s indie band, Powder and Lodger at a time when Brit Pop was in full swing and London was the coolest place on earth. However, beyond the glamour, Pearl was also battling addiction – a story she retells in her fascinating autobiography, ‘All That Glitters’.

In 2006, Pearl launched her range of bespoke handmade dresses which were sold in Liberty and The Cross in London. Her fashion career has continued to flourish and she has most recently launched a fabulous circus-inspired childrenswear line, Petite, which is simply stunning!

Pearl is a mum to 4- the fashion model Daisy, and Alfie Lennon, Frankie and youngest daughter Betty.

It’s an honour to welcome her to Wonderful Women.

 

Describe a typical day for you?

I get up at 7am, get the kids up and ready! Take them to school, then I have a swim and steam! I then drive to the station and get on the train to Paddington. I either have meetings or go to fabric shops! I usually fit in seeing my parents and my daughter Daisy.

Then I get the train home in time for supper with my kids. If I’m in Somerset, I’ll take the kids to school, swim and steam, then work with my assistant on my Petite range. I’ll pick the kids up from school & come home and cook supper. I’m usually in bed by 10pm! (So rock-n-roll!).

 

What do you feel are your biggest achievements?

My children! When I was little, I really didn’t think I would ever have kids & then I ended up having these 4 magical, eccentric little people, who make me so proud on a daily basis.

 

What’s in your handbag?

Smythson diary, Laura Mercier foundation and secret concealer, MAC lipstick & Spice lipliner and black eye liner. iPhone 6 Plus, Aviator Ray Ban sunglasses, Dr Sebag moisturiser, Annick Goutal Eau du Sud perfume.

 

What are your ambitions in life?

To live a peaceful and happy existence.

 

What advice would you give your pre-baby self that you now know?

Only do the things that you are most passionate about! Always listen to your gut and no-one else’s.

 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

Living by a beach somewhere!

 

What advice would you give a budding entrepreneur.

Decide what you want, believe it is possible, believe in yourself and never take your eye off the goal!

 

Finally, happiness is…a choice.
