I was plant-based when we reviewed YO! Sushi.
Afternoon tea is not synonymous with Yo! Sushi (nor are vegan dishes) yet when we were invited to enjoy a special regal afternoon tea yesterday, on the day of the Royal wedding our preconceptions were crushed with a delightful and innovation afternoon tea like no other for my husband Peter, and an all-encompassing vegan and vegetarian menu for me.
Exclusive to the Windsor Yo! Sushi branch in the centre of our hometown, this Royal Wedding Afternoon Tea was presented to Peter (I became plant-based a month ago) with three tiers of deliciousness spanning Temoura Nori Tacos, Onigiri Sushi Balls with caviar decorated in gold leaf no less, Aburi Seared Sushi Selection and a Selection of Sashimi. Too pretty to eat. Almost. Peter inhaled it and deemed it the greatest sushi feast he’d ever eaten.
The desserts wowed the kids as much as my very own Duke (!) with matcha green-tea brownies, ganache mochi and the innovative adzuki red bean cheesecake dorayaki pancake for dessert.
We were topped up with champagne throughout as well as jasmine tea to start, and I scoffed the delicate and flavoursome Harusame Aubergine (fried aubergine in a garlic, ginger and sesame soy dressing) with lots of cucumber and avocado maki sans mayo to follow. The boys enjoyed my vegan treats too along with bowls of rice and stolen veggies from Daddy’s platter.
The meal made for the perfect end to a high-energy day in Windsor celebrating the happy couple.
Thanks Yo! Sushi.
