Mother and daughter
My own Mum is my biggest inspiration, the smartest, most selfless woman who did a cracking job of raising my brother, Solos and I and offers me crucial childcare, support and love in raising my own two sons. I literally don’t know what I would do without her.

I always try to make sure my mum knows how much I appreciate her. From simple spontaneous texts telling her that I love her to glamorous nights out at the opera.

However, I still like to make a big fuss about her on Mother’s Day. Yes its driven by commercialism but who cares! It’s the one day of the year that I can dedicate to the number one woman in my life!

I didn’t think my mum could be more amazing if she tried, but she has surpassed herself and is kindly offering one lucky reader the chance to win a £50 voucher for my family’s multi-award winning restaurant The Olive Tree to be used this Sunday (15 March 2015) as an amazing Mothers Day treat!

The Olive Tree moussaka

They will be serving up a fantastic three course Mothers Day menu (£17.95 per person) of captivating and delicious Greek cuisine! The voucher can be used in any of their three restaurants in Leeds, which are located in Rodley, Headingley and Chapel Allerton.

My mum is always feeding everyone else she deserves for someone else to do the cooking for once and what better than a nice meal out

My mum is always available day or night for us. Solve a problem, Listen, and my best friend.

We nearly lost my mum last year and it was the most horrendous, heartbreaking time, thankfully for us she found the strength to fight back & is now back home – where my dad is doing an amazing job looking after her. My mum has always looked after us (I am 1 of 3 sisters) & has found it difficult to be ‘looked after’. I can tell she is getting better as she is back to telling me off (despite being 39, married with 2 children of my own!!) I would love to take her out for a meal, dad too as he deserves a big treat for all he does- their retirement started with mum spending almost a year in hospital rather than the holidays they dreamed of. We are so grateful for the time we have with mum & love her so much xx

I have a great relationship with my mum but since having my own children she encourages me to spend the day with my children. I’ve been meaning to visit one of your parents restaurants for AGES and this would be the ideal opportunity to enjoy good food and spend time with my lovely family

Vicki is a daughter to be proud of, a shining example of an ambitious, intelligent, hard working woman managing to combine her career with raising a wonderful family & always finding time for friends. Her mother must be so proud.

As someone who doesn’t have a relationship with her Mum I always find your posts where you talk about your Mum really lovely. I think it is very clear how much you love, appreciate and respect her and how much you treasure your relationship. It’s lovely to read.

Oh thanks so much Rachael, that means a lot. I’m very lucky to have a wonderful Mum and it saddens me this isn’t the case for everyone. Sending you lots of love x
