Woohoo it's that time of year when us mamas get spoilt rotten!
Yup it's Mother's Day on Sunday the 6th of March and I'm already looking forward to breakfast in bed and not having to tidy up lego pieces (ouch) for a whole day.
Sometimes it's the little luxuries in life right...
My own Mum is my biggest inspiration, the smartest, most selfless woman who did a cracking job of raising my brother, Solos and I and offers me crucial childcare, support and love in raising my own two sons. I literally don't know what I would do without her.
I always try to make sure my mum knows how much I appreciate her. From simple spontaneous texts telling her that I love her to glamorous nights out at the opera.
However, I still like to make a big fuss about her on Mother's Day. Yes its driven by commercialism but who cares! It's the one day of the year that I can dedicate to the number one woman in my life!
I didn't think my mum could be more amazing if she tried, but she has surpassed herself and is kindly offering one lucky reader the chance to win a £50 voucher for my family's multi-award winning restaurant The Olive Tree to be used this Sunday (15 March 2015) as an amazing Mothers Day treat!
Mother's Day has gotten me thinking about the simple things I love about motherhood, the little moments that make me appreciate being a mother more than anything in my life, when my kids aren't tantrumming of course, fighting over which Peppa Pig episode to watch or refusing OVER and OVER to share (yawn)....but here are the times when it's truly JOYOUS:
When photographer Kirsty Mattsson kindly offered me a family shoot, we'd discussed a Mother's Day theme to start ( it also evolved into head shots and a style shoot too) but the most important, most utterly enjoyable part of the day was with my family: my husband Peter and our sons Oliver (4) and Alexander (18 months)-a Mother's Day shoot I'll always cherish.
Mothers Day always holds a special place in my heart, more so now that I'm a mother myself. I have always celebrated it, also sending cards and flowers to my beloved Grandma when she was alive. In the UK, Mothers Day is the 10th of March so I want to dedicate this post to my Mama, the family's rock: an inspiration and hard act to follow.
