Calamari (Fried Squid)

Papa G is back with his scrumptious fried Greek squid (calamari). A favourite treat in this house and a starter staple on the Olive Tree menu, these beauties are super quick and easy to serve up!

Calamari (Fried Squid)

1 tbsp sea salt
4 tbsp plain flour
4 tbsp cornflour
400g squid tubes, washed
Vegetable oil for deep frying
Lemon and lemon wedges
Black pepper
Cayenne pepper
Parsley stalks

Mix the plain flour and corn flour with the sea salt. Cut the squid tubes into rings with a sharp knife. Fill a large pan with vegetable oil. Dip the squid rings into the flour, shaking off excess flour and fry for 2-3 minutes until crispy and golden.
Squeeze lemon over the rings and sprinkle with cayenne and black pepper. Garnish with parsley stalks and lemon wedges.

Finally got around to writing up this recipe for carrot cake – we make it all the time, and I don’t know how we are all not gigantic, it is so delicious, and I figure it’s healthy, right? carrots?? xxx

Oh hello Calamari! I had this twice last week, once as a starter and once in a salad. Harry stole most of the ones from my salad which I was quite impressed with.
