Valentine's Day Gluten-Free Chocolate Cupcakes

This recipe for chocolate cupcakes might be gluten-free but let me start by writing they’re not calorie-free sadly however I’ve used honey instead of sugar and high quality cocoa powder so they really are a pretty healthy treat that won’t skyrocket your blood sugar!

Quick, easy and gorgeous to look at, let me know if you make these chocolate cupcakes.


Makes 12 cupcakes

  • 150 g butter
  • 150 g honey (we like Manuka)
  • 3 free range large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 g Self Raising Gluten-free flour
  • 50 g high quality cocoa powder, sifted
  • 5 tbsp Milk (we like lactose free or goats milk)
  • Double cream, whipped to serve
  • Strawberries (6, halved)

You will either need 12 paper cake cases.


In a medium sized bowl, mix the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs and vanilla, then the flour, cocoa powder and milk, stirring.

Half the paper cases or pour into the cake tin and bake for 20 minutes.

Decorate with thick, whipped cream and strawberries!

    This is exactly what the gluten free community needs—-great tasting options!!
    We tried gluten free for a couple of weeks to see if it would help my husband…and there are a lot of options out there. They just aren’t all wonderful!

      Thanks darling, we have all been a bit ill these last few days so we’ve postponed Valentines for another weekend, the cakes were made the week before and enjoyed by all. Happy Valentine’s Day lovely x
