As we collectively mourn the passing of The Queen, I wanted to share award-winning flower designer Ioachim Erema’s magnificent floral crown tribute to her Majesty, on the blog.
Ioachim is the founder of Bamboo Flowers in Addlestone, Surrey and he kindly created beautiful displays for Florence’s baptism. His wife Marica and I are close friends and spent our Maternity Leave together, both having daughters just two weeks apart.
A flower ambassador, designer, teacher, demonstator and manager of fellow expert florists at his Surrey-based HQ, Ioachim spent two whole days designing and creating this bespoke crown composed of pretty purple and white orchards in memory of Queen Elizabeth II.
He actually had the privilege of meeting The Queen on several occassions whilst arranging large, bespoke designs for both state visits and private events for the Royal Family at Windsor Castle, St James Palace, Westminister and Buckingham Palace and wanted to show his respect by placing the piece at Windsor Castle in the town he lives.
Ioachim shared with me the first time he met the Queen. Having full access across Buckingham Palace, Ioachim entered the famous Blue Drawing Room in which a breakfast meeting was due to take place so he could install a bespoke arrangement for the day, and to his surprise, he saw her Majesty sitting on a small sofa. She immediately looked up, smiled and admired the flowers. Ioachim was so surprised to see her, he could only muster, a ‘Good morning’! A moment and smile he will never forget!
Well-wishers paused to take photos on seeing his tribute being placed by the gates of Windsor Castle. The Guards decided it should go into St George’s Chapel at the castle or within the castle itself so as not to be ruined.

Ioachim said, ‘It was wonderful to be able to use my skills and passion to create a tribute of delicate but long-lasting flowers to give something back to our beloved Queen. Her devotion to the country has been utterly inspirational. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this difficult time’.
