There’s nothing more fun than a festive break away with old friends, and last weekend saw us do just that, with my oldest friend in fact, Carlie, and her beautiful family: husband, James and their three kids: Tali, Joel and Jay who joined us at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London.
I’m the Royal Garden’s proud resident blogger, and I’ve luckily called this stunning 5 star hotel overlooking the palace, my second-home over the last year, and I’ll be working with them again next year too, with some simply ah-mazing events and collaborations planned that will also involve you guys too so keep your eyes peels as I’ll be sharing more info in the new year! It’s exciting!
…Now, with five kids and four adults in total we took up three incredibly spacious, luxurious rooms across two floors (with staggering views) and indulged a dinner of epic proportions with room service in our room on Saturday night (I think we might well have ordered the entire menu) spanning pasta, Lobster Bisque, grilled chicken, nachos, hallumi, fish goujons, chips, salad and not forgetting mince pies in reception…You name it, we flipping well ate it!
Oh and thanks to Hotel Chocolate for this immense chocolate cracker!
The feast was vital (and delicious) replenishment after a muddy but fun stroll in Kensington Gardens and fuel for a night on the tiles as Carlie and I escaped to Mahiki Kensington (downstairs from the hotel) where we danced the night away as if it was was 1999 (the last time we stayed out that late to be fair). Mahiki are also kindly throwing my book launch bash in May which I literally cannot wait for and judging by Saturday night’s shenanigans, it’s going to be a little bit WILD! You know what we mamas are like when we get out, we’re the first on the dance floor and the last to leave! BRING IT!
Rum cocktails and several glasses of Prosecco later saw us shaking our booties to old school R ‘n’ B and we literally laughed until our jaws hurt. Just my kinda night!
Stumbling back to the hotel in the early hours, we got a few hours kip before being revived by the incredible hotel breakfast which serves everything you could want or need! After omelettes, smashed avo on toast and honeydew melon and copious cups of coffee, we made our way to a special Sky Cinema screening of the very funny and utterly heartwarming short film Olaf’s Frozen Adventure (premiering on Sky Cinema on Christmas Day) before enjoying a snowman inspired arts and crafts party over delicious snacks and even more coffee.
Such a treat!
We then headed over to the Science Museum for some mind-boggling fun (the kids loved how interactive the exhibits were and of course splashing around in the basement) before a light lunch at Pret and more mince pie quaffing back at the hotel before Carlie and the fam had to make their way home to Manchester.
What an epic weekend.
Look at Xander’s jealous face below! Aw!

The staff go above and beyond in every way too, and the Royal Garden always feels like home for me ( a swanky, spotless 5 star kind of home), and it will for you!
