Alcudia, Majorca

There’s something truly magical about the Balearic islands and Majorca, the largest of the archipelago is a fabulous holiday destination for families looking for fun in the sun!

The resort of Alcudia sits on the north of the island combing far-reaching sandy beaches and a medieval old town.

It’s a thriving tourist destination which is around 80% families so there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained. Thrill-seekers will love the abundance of water sports that the resort has to offer or you may prefer a more relaxing afternoon strolling around the old town’s historic streets and admiring the stunning architecture.

Delicious tapas restaurants are plentiful and beer lovers can even pay a visit to the bay’s Cerveceria Microbrewery where you can take a tour and sample their hoppy delight!

 

Cala D’Or, Majorca

Staying on the island of Majorca, another top destination for families is the sumptuous Cala D’Or.

A stylish yet family friendly destination, the harbour regularly welcomes the super-yachts of the rich and famous (Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones have a holiday home nearby). But despite it’s grandeur, the resort is surprisingly friendly on the purse strings with a selection of high-quality yet great value restaurants.

The Cala D’Or coastline consists of enchanting coves that are perfect for exploring. There is also a larger beach just a short bus ride away.

 

Salou, Costa Dorada

The oh so stunning Costa Dorada is famous for its gorgeous golden beaches. Salou is a dreaming destination on located on the coast that serves up traditional Spanish culture with the picturesque Blue Flag beaches.

Kids will love the Bosc Adventura, an zip-wire themed adventure park for mini-tarzans and just on the outskirts of the resort is PortAventura aka Spain’s biggest theme park with roller coasters and water slides.

Barcelona is also within driving distance and perfect for a day trip (kids will love the Barcelona Zoo!).

 

Playa Es Cana, Ibiza

Back to the Balearics and this time Ibiza. The White Isle may be known first and foremost as a hedonist’s paradise; however, it’s also home to some of Europe’s best family-friendly resorts: case in point, Playa Es Cana, which is 70% families.

With it’s stunning beaches (quite possibly the best on the island) and beautiful scenery, from this side of the island you can enjoy Ibiza’s majestic sunrise. There’s plenty of kid-friendly things to do during both the day and night in Playa Es Cana and make sure you head to the famous hippy market where you can pick up the most gorgeous handmade jewellery, clothes and furnishings.

 

Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

Playa Blanca lives up to its name with some of the most stunning white beaches in Europe. Like Cala D’Or, Playa Blanca is a stylish resort with a yacht-filled marine and luxurious beaches with turquoise seas and powdery sand.

Head to the stunning town and there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained. The Commercial Centre Papagayo offers lively entertainment at night, while fashionista mamas will love an afternoon of shopping at the upmarket Marinaside shopping complex.
