Half-term is just around the corner and whilst I’ll be taking some time off during the week, there’ll be lots of juggling going on here as I entertain little kids and make big deadlines. The Mumboss way of life is never easy but it’s always worth it, hey?!
Thankfully one of this family’s favourite kids’ movies, Sing is coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray (get your copy May 22nd), so we’ll be having a little movie night at home watching it together (I’ll be making popcorn with honey for a treat too) and nothing makes us happier than snuggling in bed or watching a movie in the lounge, cuddled up on the sofa.
We first watched Sing at the cinema late last year and I’m not ashamed to say it made me blub. A heartwarming, entertaining and incredibly moving film with a strong message to never stop follow your dreams however hard life can be, is something I personally advocate as both a parent and professional blogger and vlogger.
I wasn’t prepared for such an emotional pull with a film, it will move and uplift you.
Plus any film with a soundtrack that makes me want to move gets a yes from me! Like mummy pig Rosita below, I’ve been known to dance around the supermarket aisles (much to my kids’ embarrassment).
Now go watch the wonderful trailer.
The producers of the movie, Illumination brought the much-loved films The Secret Life of Pets and the Despicable Me franchise to life and have completely nailed it with the musical movie of the year. It not only inspired us all to sing and dance more when we watched it but to always be ourselves. You can’t ask more than that from a movie.
SING stars Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, a wonderfully optimistic and charming koala bear (who reminds me of my Dad) who decides to put on the world’s greatest singing competition, to save his crumbling theater. There are many hurdles along the way but by actively trying to change his life, he gives hope to the entire community and demonstrates that with hard work, tenacity and a good heart, unbelievable things can happen.
Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon plays my favourite character in the cast, sweet pig mama, Rosita, an overworked and unappreciated mother of 25 piglets (!) who rediscovers her identity, and passion for song, thanks to the singing competition.
Scarlett Johansson voices Ash, a punk rock porcupine with a stunning voice beneath her prickly exterior and Taron Egerton is Johnny, a young gangster gorilla (whom my eldest son, Oliver, adored) who finds solace in music away from his criminal family.
You’ll also find Seth MacFarlane, John C. Reilly, and Grammy Award-nominated Tori Kelly in starring roles too. What a dream cast, hey?!
Sing was deservedly a Golden Globe nominee for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song and the film features more than 65 hit songs for its score, including ‘Faith,’ and original song by the legend that is Stevie Wonder (featuring Ariana Grande). Wow.
The DVD and Blu-Ray also includes over 60-minutes of bonus content and three all-new mini movies featuring the loveable cast as well as an exclusive Tori Kelly music video, and much more!
You definitely won’t be bored this half term and if your kids are anything like mine, you’ll be watching this on repeat every day. Thank goodness it’s flipping amazing!
Get your copy on DVD and Blu-Ray on May 22nd. Yay!
