Resharing this super spooky cake we were gifted years ago because it deserves a place on the homepage every Halloween! I only rediscovered it today!!
We were the lucky recipients of this superstar Halloween cake care of Cake Owls who make every kind of cake imaginable for any sweet need or occassion! Look at the attention to detail with the decorations and underneath was a soft and creamy chocolate cake my kids (and our neighbours) devoured to mark Halloween.

Thank you from a very happy family!
Now I do not have the recipe for this exact cake but we’ve tried to recreate it using my Chocolate victoria sponge recipe below then using icing and decorations over the top!
Ingredients:
- 200 g butter
- 200 g caster sugar
- 4 medium eggs, beaten
- 220 g Self-raising flour
- 50g dark cocoa powder
- pinch of cinnamon
- coconut for sprinkling
- 1 tsp baking powder
If making your own icing
- 75g unsalted butter
- 175g icing sugar
- 45g cocoa
- 10ml milk or water
Method:
Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in the eggs and if the mixture starts to curdle, add a little flour.Pre-heat oven to 180ºC/350ºF/Gas Mark 4.Grease and line two 20 cm (8 inch) sandwich tins.
Fold in the remaining flour, the cocoa powder, cinnamon and baking powder with a metal spoon.
Divide the mixture between the two tins and bake for approx. 25-30 minutes until golden brown and firm to the touch. Remove from oven and leave to cool before turning out onto a cooling rack.
Spread between each cake. Then cover with orange icing (we buy pre bought and Halloween decorations)!
