The sun shone all weekend in Windsor (a welcome relief from Storm Eunice) making it the perfect opportunity to love bomb my middle child, 9 year old, Alexander. (Psychologist Oliver James advocates love bombing in his unmissable book, ‘Love Bombing – Reset your child’s emotional thermostat’ ).
I could tell Xands was feeling left out with Florence’s arrival so Saturday saw him in the driving seat, choosing what we did, where we went and he had me all to himself as Florence slept most of the day in her plush tiger-print pram (a gift from Cosatto). We stopped for an impromptu photo shoot, unable to resist the pastel painted houses near the centre with Xander photographing me and directing me to take the shots of the unfolding sunset.
Hello The Handmaid’s Tale vibes, here.

Xander and I discussed everything from his sweet friendships at school, his dreams of becoming a Premiership footballer but his hopes, ‘not to miss out on University’, concluding he’ll play for Arsenal for two years before taking early retirement in his twenties, heading for university then. Wise one. Ha!
What precious one-on-one time we enjoyed, a precious slice of mother-son bonding which means so much to each of us.

I’ve tried to manage his expectations that the chances to play in the Premier League is slim but Xander was having none of it. I can’t help but admire his immovable self-belief. Whether he makes it to play professionally or not, his tenacity it to applauded. That’s my boy.

Have you tried love bombing?
How I love loving our loving boy Alexander :)!
