Bettys Easter Treats

Famous Yorkshire-based tea rooms Bettys inspired by both Swizz and Yorkshire cuisine and established in 1919 no less, holds a very special place in my heart.

Growing up in the tiny, breathtakingly beautiful town of Ilkley deep in the Yorkshire countryside, where one of the handful of Bettys is based, was our go-t0 as a family growing up (and beyond) for lunches, early dinners, birthday treats, and aftertoon teas.

I distinctly remember the Bettys’ breakfast and lunches for children where a meal of sausages, eggs and beans were arranged into a sweet face on your plate.

It was also the first place we took my youngest child, Florence, now 3, to celebrate her birth over afternoon tea with the entire family. My husband Peter wouldn’t put her in her pram and held her like the tiny baby rabbit she was at just a few weeks old, throughout the entire meal. So precious.

Moving back to Yorkshire and specifically Harrogate has meant returning to the places that always meant so much to me, Bettys being a precious favourite. It’s become our second home in all honesty here and visiting always feels like a warm hug. We each have our signature favourite from traditional fish and chips to cinammon toast and Fat Rascals!
