Attending Julien MacDonald’s Spring/Summer 2018 Collection at London Fashion Week

Honest Mum in Julien Macdonald

It was great fun collaborating with Julien MacDonald OBE a few weeks ago, when I interviewed him about designing his bejewelled and bespoke McDonalds box, and he kindly invited me to his S/S 2018 show at London Fashion Week (at Bankside Vaults, Bankside) which was utterly divine: high octane glamour with dazzling pieces for men and women, embellished and twinkling under a spray of metallic blue ribbons that fell from the ‘sky’ at the finale and Julien took a bow.

I was honoured to be on Julien’s friends guest list which led me to meeting beautiful, charismatic and sisterly entrepreneur Karen J. Gerrard who recognised me outside and who I instantly clicked with. Founder of the non-greasy, gorgeously replenishing Seams hand cream Karen literally knew EVERYONE there and it was a joy to hang out together.

Julien’s was the only show I managed to make this LFW (sorry to the other designers) but my book deadline was looming so the annual fashionista’s dream came at the wrong time for me.  I’ll attend more consistently next year for sure, as I’ve loved it in previous years: the energy, excitement and of course the ART that is fashion, daarling is simply divine. I just hope I’m not blacklisted from Paris Haute Couture as I’ve not been able to make it three years running due to campaign clashes and childcare issues (what’s a fashion-loving mama got to do) but here’s hoping I can make the next one too!

Anyway, back to Julien’s exquisite show…

I adored seeing so many supermodels up close on the runway with the stunning Winnie Harlow joining Martha Hunt and Alessandra Ambrosio. Take about MEGA BABES! The audience was as star-studded as the runway too with anyone who’s anyone, gracing the FROW.

I was of course wearing Julien Macdonald (for Debenhams), earrings are The TML Edit, bag Schuh, shoes by designer Repetto, Paris. My great friend Jason Collier and hairstylist to Victoria Beckham no less, transformed my hair from highlighted ‘I’ve been in Miami all summer’ goldie locks to espresso/hot chocolate deliciousness ready for A/W and I love it.

I’ve shot a vlog below of the day and night, and here’s a short Facebook Live too:

Roll on this week as I’ve kindly been invited to Julien’s cocktail party! Now to decide what to wear!
