A day out at Diggerland- not my usual idea of a fun weekend I’ll be honest with you…I love getting outside with the kids though, to parks, farms, country walks and weekends away on the coast but not usually driving diggers. How wrong could I be? I probably had more fun than my 3 year old.
Diggerland is where children and adults have the chance to ride and drive REAL full size construction machinery, under the guidance of trained staff and no driving licence is required!
We headed to the Castleford branch when the sun shone (they also have branches in Kent, Devon and Durham) and played for literally hours, from working the machines to whizzing around the tracks in electric racing cars for kids (I might have driven those cars myself too-if the booty fits I say, go for it) and I loved, loved, loved this place.
It is a little pricey- £17.00 per person, kids under 90cm go in free and over 65’s are 8.50 each but I thought it was well worth the cost.
The food in the cafe isn’t great, all fast food and white breaded sandwiches so take a picnic. You do have to pay extra for the electric cars but all the outdoor rides and activities are included in the price and Oliver and I had hours of fun in the softplay area (also included in the entrance fee) sliding down huge slides and jumping around in ball pits while the baby slept.
A huge shop that will delight all tractor loving children everywhere, with a wide selection of toys and clothes from low to high prices, Oliver enjoyed choosing a few small tractor toys to remember the day by.
I would recommend Diggerland for all kids, boys and girls and of course Mums and Dads who, like me, might end up having more fun than they could ever imagine!

As an aside, Peter had a play with photoshop a while back and created this-love it!
