Just look at their happy faces! These two are clea Just look at their happy faces! These two are clearly LOVING homeschool 🤪🤪🤪🤪. To be honest, we have been having fun together but it’s been a bit of a tipsy turvy ride so far: a good day (chilled, homeschool flows, the kids get on) followed by a stressful one where they bicker, don’t want to learn and I become Shouty Mum. We’re all finding our way though, right. We’re more anxious, our kids’ routine is completely out of whack, we’re at home for the majority of the day so we need to cut ourselves some slack. Today I’ve been more relaxed, I’ve taken the pressure off myself to be Mary Poppins and I’ve taken the pressure off my kids to replicate a full school day (which is impossible, so we’re just trying our best juggling a few hours of work with exercise and movies) and most importantly, living in the moment more. Less shouting, more cuddles. This will come as no surprise to parents but resea This will come as no surprise to parents but research confirms that kids snack more than any other group, and that children’s intake of sugar remains well above national recommendations. Worryingly so! A recent study from @arladairyuk’s Arla Explorers found that children consume around 63 grams of sugar a day, which is more than double Public Health England’s daily recommended maximum intake of 24 grams (five-six sugar cubes) per day.WOW! But here's the thing: Arla Explorers also discovered that children actually enjoy humble, simple and natural foods just as much as sugary treats anyway! Yay! As part of the Arla Explorers study, they conducted a behavioural experiment, which saw children aged 6-10 complete a series of tasks to find out their true preferences when it came to snacking. When tasked, 8 out of 10 children chose a healthier option with strawberries, watermelon, apples and carrots being loaded on to plates than sweeter, less fibrous options. It turns out when given the choice, children make the right one. Thank goodness for the Arla Explorers range bridging the gap between what parents like me, want their children to eat and what our children want, with a range of yogurts, packed with naturally sourced ingredients and at least 30% less sugar than other products on the market (and my kids love them). So much going on in the world right now but I want So much going on in the world right now but I wanted to share that my business partners @lucygriffithsdotcom @jackfreud have spent the best part of a year developing a digital video course business: The Working Mother’s Company and Academy that will upskill parents in digital skills providing them with everything they need to know in order to launch a succesful online business/ work online. Oh, and we launch this week!!! We hope the various courses and membership community will help mobilise a great many mums in the UK and US. Across the courses, I share in video and worksheet format, all that I’ve learnt in the past decade pivoting from being a filmmaker and TV director to blogger, vlogger and author, to help others follow suit.
