About me

Honest Mum

Hi, I’m Vicki, mum of two, blogger, vlogger, author and former filmmaker and TV director.

I recently won Inspirational Role Model of the Year at the MPower Awards as well as Best Baby and Parenting Blog for Honest Mum at the UK Blog Awards 2019.

I often pop up on TV as both a presenter and parenting expert (regularly appearing on BBC News and ITV) and I’ve spoken about maternal rights and flexible working as well as perinatal mental health in the House of Commons.

Career highlights include interviewing superstar actress Kim Cattrall and pop group, Westlife.

Photo here from my morning homeschooling Oliver in the children’s area (what I don’t know about the Tudors now nobody knows let me tell you) and beautiful baby Grace @maricabamboo @bambooflowersuk joined us too. Look at the cuteness here as Oliver reads to Gracey. He just loves babies and keeps asking for one (and a dog)! I’ll miss my boy madly when he starts school again soon but we’ll always have the precious memories of the past 3 weeks together. What a resilient, caring and self-motivated child. Instagram post 2183812400553089704_537862275 *Saturday night*...The best night with my best mate Will who I’m accidentally twinning with here 🤪. I actually counted the years we’ve known each other tonight (while feeling 100 years old) and it’s been 20 years!!! We met during our uni days in our late teens on a Saturday job at Tiger Tiger (we spent most of the time dancing to be honest so think we got sacked early on) and have been inseparable since 👫...I share so much about the sisterly women in my life here but I’m just as grateful for the incredible men: my husband @peter_broadbent, my pals and colleagues who deserve some space and appreciation (even though I have to wrestle them for pics because literally all the men I know are camera-hating shy guys 🤷🏻‍♀️). Well, Will is getting another square tonight as it’s been a while (and I can’t believe people dmed me last time I shared him here to say you know him, what a small world we live in). So some friendship milestones first: Will coming with me to an MTV audition I didn’t get, being able usher at my wedding, letting me mother him before I became a mum (he always says if it wasn’t for me he would never have eaten at uni), a million nights out, revising in the park, trips to the National Portrait Gallery (Will told me at 19 one day I’d feature...still waiting) and so much more. I love that we share so much history (the uni years were pretty wild and re-living the madness always makes me smile). Seriously though, Will has been there for me through so much. Too many times to mention in fact but I’ll mention one I’ll never forget and that was Will talking me through my big thyroid op step by step, pre surgery (he’s an anaesthetist) to help prepare and calm me and then calling me from the US as soon as I was out of theatre despite his crazy schedule during his fellowship at Harvard, spending an hour reassuring me when I felt frightened by the drugs’ side effects. I feel so grateful to Will for his unconditional love and enduring friendship and most of all, his crazy dance moves. Thanks to my one in a mil Will who makes life better ❤️
