Creative Women’s Network Event at the Rainforest Cafe

There’s nothing more nourishing than a room full of dynamic, supportive and of course, honest women coming together to share their stories, vulnerabilities, and achievements (mostly overcoming adversity in the process) to help empower and support one another. Maggy Woodley of Red Ted Art and I set up the Creative Women’s Network  as a safe space for both our ourselves as well as other like-minded women to provide a real life platform to celebrate and vitally collaborate with each other.

    Well, we’ve gone and done that, and made friends for life in the process. What could be better?!

Our most recent shindig saw us take over The Rainforest Cafe (thanks guys) with Maggy and I hosting a conversation with Annika Iantosca, Head of Talent Acquisition for the up-skilling superstars Digital Mums. Annika shared her emotional journey going freelance then working for Digital Mums after her husband’s business liquidated, out of the blue.

I loved the quote by Sister Busche she mentioned which resonated with me, ‘We are like tea bags, we don’t know our own strength until we’re in hot water’.

Yes to that!

The chat which brought Annika and the entire room to tears was followed by introductions from the group – from award winning beauty make up artists to loving our ‘Old and Beautiful’ – and it was utterly inspiring to hear of so many projects and collaborations underway. Others spoke of businesses spanning labeling your child’s school clothes to a healthy meal on the table and many glossy Journalists and Editors also joined this time with press opps ahead for the group too.

Maggy and I were incredibly touched when Jin.B gifted us the most beautiful personalised stationary, cementing the group’s place in others’ heart, a kernel of an idea over lunch earlier in the year which now means so much to us both and many others.

Massive thanks to Angela and her team at the Rainforest Cafe for their generosity and the event space, food, drink and welcome they gave us all. We loved every single minute.
