Baby Florence Turns 4 Months Old

Florence

Florence turned 4 months on Friday and being my third child means I’m fully aware of how fleeting the first year is when it comes to babies forcing me to lap up every minute, even the harder ones, grateful for all of her firsts. Her first feed, smile, pulling of my hair, rolling on her side, being able to hold onto her teether (and the flowers here) and more.

So much has happened since her birth in November and as is always the case with babies, time has flown by on wings yet it feels like she’s always been here.

I often look at photos taken years ago with the boys and instinctively seek out our baby, baffled Florence wasn’t with us then.

I’d always hoped for a third baby, so much so, I often referred to Xander as my second child. Florence was meant to be.

And boy do my boys (including Daddy) and I, adore her.  That sweet honey-scented skin I sniff a thousand times a day, those sometimes straight, sometimes wavy shiny locks of hair of her’s which changes colour as frequently as her eyes do veering from jet black to light brown with reddish streaks and back again, alongside her green, grey or blue eyes, depending on the day. I know eyes take time to absorb melanin so it’s a waiting game on which shade they’ll become. She was born brown eyed as my sons were but they never went through a stage of blue or green eyes so this is another first for me.

Her gummy smile is utterly infectious, her oval eyes framed with long, dark lashes, magnetic, her zest for life and the speed in which she wants to grow up, awe-inspiring as much as it scares me. Stay little sweet pea, these are the best of times…Florence is an ice-breaker and joy spreader with strangers stopping us at every turn to say she looks like a doll or even asking for a hug. The Florence Effect sure is a wonder to witness and we’re so incredibly proud she’s ours.

Beautiful organic floral print baby grow here part of several pieces kindly gifted to us from MORI.
