We adore the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in York and the family and I have spent many a weekend shopping, eating and playing there.
Those who follow my blog know I love quality designer pieces and no more so than when they’re discounted (mama loves a bargain).
The Designer Outlet offers up to 60% off brands all year round and our favorite stores there are the Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, The Kooples, Replay, Reiss and the many sports stores on site.
Having returned from a fabulous holiday in Portugal the week before staying at the pristine, luxe Pine Cliffs resorts, I felt inspired to spring clean my house for 7 hours (yep 7 whole hours) sorting out 2 car-loads of clothes, shoes and even cutlery, for charity.
A weight off my shoulders and a much more organised home and in particular wardrobes, meant a big shopping haul at the outlet was needed.
Oliver, 7 has undergone a huge growth spurt lately, and whilst Alexander, 4, luckily inherits Oliver’s outgrown clothes, this has left Oliver lacking in basics and smarter pieces too.
I made a vlog of our time at the outlet as well as a haul (coming soon) so you can see the pieces I bought in detail which included lots of Ralph Lauren tees, chinos, polos, shirts and hoodies for the kids and my husband too who needed a wardrobe update, as a Replay hoodie for him as well (he sure likes his leisurewear).
I picked up some new and super bright Asics trainers which are my heroes when it comes to a running trainer. I also bought a pair of the most divine Bulgari shades from Sunglasses Hut, a pretty Yumi dress for Easter, an Unofficial Pokemon book for Oliver and a Lego Nexus Knight box for Master Xander!
(My Yumi dress taken on Easter Sunday, the following day).
Oh and how could I forget the unicorn slippers from Red5 Outlet Store!
We were kindly invited to Pizza Express for a delicious lunch whilst we were there, scoffing our most loved dishes du jour: Salad Nicoise, Bolognese for the kids, Calamari, and some seasonal new dishes: Seafood Rigatoni (Salmon, Pollock & king prawns in a creamy white wine & garlic sauce, with rigatoni pasta, lemon and parsley) and Lemon Bundt Cake and Coconut Sorbet for dessert. Delicious!
The great thing about the outlet, aside from all the incredible stores at awesome prices, of course, is, according to my husband, ‘All the sofas’! He and the kids often rested on sofas as I shopped away, and with lots of stop-off cafes (hello Starbucks) and places to rest, it’s the perfect place for less enthusiastic shoppers too (ie. my husband)!
My eldest, Oliver hasn’t taken after his father thankfully and is a wonderful companion when I shop. He chose my shades (‘I prefer the black ones, not the print ones, Mummy’ helping me opt for Bulgari over Prada tortoiseshell shades).
Well done, son!
Before we left, we picked up Krispy Kremes (because, how could we not?) and the boys had fun in shopping centre’s playground near the car park, as the sun came out.
A pretty perfect Saturday in my book!
