5 Colours To Consider For Your New Bathroom Renovation

Choosing the right colour for your bathroom renovation can seem like a challenging prospect, but this guide is here to help. Here, I look at some of the most popular colours right now and which palettes you should be considering for 2026. We’re renovating two bathrooms currently so I’m sharing what I love!

Sage and moss greens

Sage and moss greens are one of the top paint choices for bathrooms in 2026. Many homeowners are opting for this option because greens are so soothing. It’s one of the colours that makes you feel like you’re immersed in nature. Greens automatically bring the outdoors inside and give you permission to add more organic elements to your bathroom. This colour pairs well with light oak vanities and unlacquered stone for an almost mid-century modern look.

Terracotta and warm clay

You might also want to opt for terracotta and warm clay options. These colours are ideal for floors, accents, and tiles and take me right to the Med! Adding them to your bathroom makes the interior feel equally fresher and cosy.

For example, many homeowners in 2026 are opting for herringbone-style terracotta brickwork on their bathroom floors. These can be simulated or laid piece by piece, depending on your budget. There are plenty of plank vinyls available these days that look exactly like herringbone terracotta flooring options that look like they’ve come straight out of somewhere in southern Italy too if you want a more budget-friendly option.

Serene blue greys

If you’re looking for something that’s truly relaxing or feels more like a spa, then you might want to go for serene blue-greys. White can look a bit harsh under conventional bathroom lighting, but opting for a slate undertone can give you a watery depth without feeling overly bright (having said that my husband wanted almond white tiles for one of our bathrooms).

These colours can be hard to get right, so I like to get interior painting near me. Professionals who know what they’re doing are handy, especially if you haven’t adjusted your bathroom’s theme for a long time.

Once you add blue greys, don’t be surprised if your bathroom feels a little darker than usual. The good news is that you can brighten it up with some high quality lighting.

Alabaster and chalky whites

If you like white in your bathroom, you still have plenty of options in 2026. Many families are opting for alabaster and chalky white finishes. These don’t have the clinical feel of hospital whites and make the bathroom feel friendlier and more welcoming. Alabaster works because it is slightly more muted compared to other synthetic whites. This is great if you’re the sort of person who goes to the shower early in the morning to get ready for work.

Charcoal and true black

Finally, if you want to create some bold drama in your bathroom, then you could go for charcoal and true black. This palette is moody and works well if you want your bathroom to contrast with the rest of your home. True black elements should be accents like a dark vanity or a black basin. Charcoal tones should comprise the rest of the room and perhaps be complemented by flecks of orange and red here and there where it’s suitable to add some warmth. You can also use gold in these environments for a more luxurious feel.
