Prezzo is synonymous with excellent and fairly priced Italian food and a family lunch at the York branch in the bustling city centre last weekend did not disappoint.
Finding somewhere our family of five can agree on when it comes to food, dietary requirements and preferences is a miracle in itself but Prezzo hit the spot for all of us. The food was excellent as was the service, ambience and attention to detail and thoughtfulness, especially when it comes to children and young adults dining there.
Their new Gabby’s Dollhouse menu with cat shaped pizza, rainbow donuts and a hat, colouring in and activities meant my youngest, Florence, 3, was captivated throughout.
It was the first meal in as long as we can remember where we, the adults, actually got to relax and eat because Florence was entertained.
Friendly on the pocket too, littles ones can enjoy a free two-course kids’ meal from our ages 0-2 or 2–8 kids’ menus with every full-paying adult main until 9th November 2025.
Also FYI to you parents but if you say the secret code word “RAINBOW” to your server, then they’ll swap in our hidden-veg rainbow pasta, helping sneak in one of their 5-a-day without the fuss. Cool huh?!
Florence gobbled up every course without fuss.
The rest of us must have sampled most of the menu (what lucky ducks we are) and everything from the crispy calamari to chilli king prawns, sharing platters with mozzarella, Prosciutto and pepperoni, succulent meatballs, pizza, Caesar salad and bolognese were outstanding!
With ample portions, fresh and authentic ingredients, perfectly seasoned and presented, this meal really was a joy from start to finish.
The desserts too went down a treat with Florence choosing to create her own sundae with Mango sorbet and toppings spanning strawberries, cream and rainbow sprinkles, and the table shared Lotus Biscoff cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding with coffee for the adults after, means we’re still dreaming about this epic lunch and can’t wait to return.
All fuelled up, we wandered around the breathtaking city of York, stomping on russet red leaves by York Minster and beyond, scouting the indie shops, visiting an old fashioned sweet shop and buying fruit in the market. Wonderful.
