Hi! I’m Vicki, multi-award winning lifestyle blogger, parenting expert and bestselling author of Mumboss-The Honest Mum’s Guide To Surviving and Thriving at Work and at Home (UK)/ The Working Mom (US + Ca).

Happy 9th birthday 🎉 to my Mini Me, Xander, my

Happy 9th birthday 🎉 to my Mini Me, Xander, my funny, empathetic, smart, creative, violin-playing, water sport-loving little shadow of a son who warms the hearts of everyone he meets. To know Xander is to love Xander. Truly…Aww, we’ve had the most wonderful time post-school celebrating his birthday today so I’ll share some sweet pics tomorrow as it’s movie time now (and they’re on Peter’s camera!) but it’s safe to say this pregnant mama is feeling pretty emotional 😭 (yes, I cried) at the fact my sweet baby boy is nearing towards double digits and is growing up far too quickly for my liking (I’m just relieved he still loves his cuddly toy collection)... I often feel that my first child Oliver is my best friend as I felt quite young and immature/unprepared having him at 28 and in many ways, we learnt to grow up together, no doubt helped by the fact Oliver was born an old soul. This meant that when Xander came along, I’d experienced the baptism of fire that is first time motherhood and had found my groove. Second kids are so lucky in that way aren’t they?…Xander and I have been inseparable since day 1. He’s such an easy, content and emotionally intelligent kid and our connection runs deep. He literally just told me that when I’m sad, he’s sad 😢 . The love we share is immeasurable and life affirming, and he, along with his amazing big brother (and my bump) are a dream come true and my happily ever after. Cheesy but true. I can’t wait to see this gentle, loving soul with the baby sister he wished for (and said he saw in a dream before I was even pregnant), soon. Did you catch my son Oliver, 11, and I on @bbcnews 📺 earlier discussing the vaccination roll-out for 12-15 year olds which he’ll be eligible for in a few months? The programme will help protect the vulnerable, minimise infection and prevent more missed education as the pandemic peaks again during the winter. I’m pro vaccination but Oliver is still on the fence although he is keen to protect others and stay in school. We chatted about parental consent and the responsibility of schools to inform and support children and parents alike to make informed decisions as well as social media handles duty to regulating information. It made for an interesting, candid and nuanced conversation. I’ll share it here tomorrow. You can also catch us on @bbc5live radio discussing the topic in the morning 📺 📻. Yesterday was incredibly traumatic as someone clos

Yesterday was incredibly traumatic as someone close to me (who doesn’t want me to share their identity) choked for what seemed like an eternity. My family and I thought they were going to die in front of our eyes. It was horrific. The single worst experience of my life and I’ve experienced some scary things. I feel so deeply grateful to @daisyfirstaid @daisyfirstaidbracknell @daisyfirstaidleeds who have taught me first aid for both adults and babies/children twice over the years because last night I knew exactly what to do, the training instantly returned and my close friend @drjulietmcgrattan and the doctors who treated the patient in hospital after, said I saved this person’s life. Please prioritise first aid and take a course ASAP. It’s so easy to think the worst won’t ever happen but we all know that’s sadly not reality. Please also hold your loved ones extra tightly. I feel so thankful that all ended well here when it so easily couldn’t have. Thank you Juliet @drjulietmcgrattan for being there for me then and always, you’re a true friend. Juliet told me the adrenaline surge pregnant, is the equivalent of me running a marathon so I’ll be resting for the foreseeable! #firstaid #life #mum #honestmum #savingalife #crisis #pregnant #thirdtrimester #firstaidtraining
