Honest Mum

Hi, I’m Vicki, mum of two, blogger, vlogger, author and former filmmaker and TV director.

I often pop up on TV as both a presenter and parenting expert (regularly appearing on BBC News and ITV) and I’ve spoken about maternal rights and flexible working as well as perinatal mental health in the House of Commons.

Career highlights include interviewing superstar actress Kim Cattrall and pop group, Westlife.

After a traumatic birth with my first son back in 2010, I felt utterly broken/lacking in confidence. I started my blog honestmum.com during mat leave from an inflexible directing career (12 hour days at that) that didn’t work around my baby. Thank goodness the internet exploded and my blog and social channels became my career, a career that pays the bills and means I make the school-run, too. Read how you can do it for yourself 💪

FYI I’m the clumsy one in the family which saves me from clearing-up duties at least. Seriously so good to be home (always sleep better in my old bedroom here than anywhere else in the 🌍). Thank you to my friend @maricabamboo for the stunning floral festive arrangement from her shop @bambooflowersuk she gifted me. What are you guys up to? I had a disco nap after breakfast and it was literally the highlight of 2019 for me 😴

I missed seeing this in the @guardian 📰 in Nov I missed seeing this in the @guardian 📰 in Nov as I got my dates mixed up (why is life so damn draining at this time of year?)...I wish I’d seen it in print to be honest as it marks a highly important milestone for me 😉😉🤪 as it’s the first time I’ve ever worn a headband in a shoot (thanks for the push @ljstyling and promising me I wouldn’t look like my former awkward 12 year old headband-wearing small fore-headed self (still got the small forehead obvs), and thanks to my Mum @honestgrandma for her fab matching earrings I borrowed forever 😝 last time I saw her, tagged other items). To be fair, my hack is a bit of a Christmas cop-out as we often go away but I promised my Mum we’d head back to Leeds this year and I can’t wait to be honest, stress and all 🤪! I have so much respect for Catherine, the Duchess I have so much respect for Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge and her vital work in the Early Years and this documentary with Mary Berry was such a joy to watch. It offered us greater access and insight into the Cambridges’ personalities, lives and vital charity work. Both are so incredibly warm and giving. Did you watch it?
