Wonderful Women Interview with Alesha Dixon

Alesha Dixon

It’s a huge honour to share my interview with superstar singer and TV judge Alesha Dixon on Honest Mum.

I got enjoy a lavish lunch with Alesha and a group of bloggers a few weeks ago to discuss Alesha’s ambassadorial role with super Swisse Vitamins- and it was a pleasure to interview her for my Wonderul Women feature.

This is truly one of the most inspiring interviews I’ve published here and every word of Alesha’s resonated with me.

Enjoy!

Describe a typical day for you?
There is no typical day really! Life is always busy and I have a lot of different things going on at the moment with the launch of my latest album and single – ‘Stop’, my LBD collaborations, BGT, and my current role as the UK ambassador for Swisse Vitamins. But I wouldn’t have it any other way!

What do you feel are your biggest achievements?

Obviously Mis-Teeq was a huge part of my life; everything I do now is because of Mis-Teeq, so in some respects that is one of my biggest achievements. My new album and, of course, my wonderful daughter, Azura: she makes me proud every day.

What’s in your handbag?

I always have a bottle of water with me to stay hydrated, my Swisse Ulitplus Hair Skin Nail vitamins, my favourite Sicily lip balm and my phone. I always carry a few make up essentials too – concealer, lip gloss and mascara.

What are your ambitions in life?
To be healthy and happy in everything I do, so I can be at my best, as I love my job, I love my family and I want to be the best mum I can be for Azura.

What advice would you give your pre-baby self, that you now know?

To not worry so much. I think when you’re young, you worry about everything. The world can be a scary place and you have anxieties about what you’re going to do with your life and what’s going to happen. But I’ve learnt that worrying doesn’t change anything. It’s your intentions, convictions and hard work that help you create the life you want for yourself.

My advice would be to just enjoy doing whatever you’re doing, because whatever you’re doing is the right thing for you at that time. Remember, everything will be okay!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

As I said, I think we waste so much time worrying about things in the future that are out of control when actually we should be enjoying the present moment.

I try not to put too much pressure on myself and just value my life, health and family now. All I want to be in 5 years’ time is strong, fit and healthy for my daughter.

What advice would you give to budding singers and presenters?

I think just to believe in yourself, nothing that’s worthwhile comes easy so keep pushing forward and make sure any setbacks you might face make you stronger and encourage you to follow your dreams.

Make yourself heard or seen in any way you can, increase your visibility and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

Finally, happiness is…

happiness isn’t just one thing, lots of things make me happy.
Number one: my daughter. It doesn’t matter what mood I’m in, I look at her and she always puts a smile on my face. Other things… being with my dogs; being fit and healthy; being with my friends and laughing non-stop; and although I don’t have a specific ‘happy’ song, music will always make me happy.

Alesha Dixon has just been unveiled as the first UK ambassador for Swisse, Australia’s number one multivitamin brand recently launched in the UK. An expert in developing tailored multivitamins and supplements, Swisse knows exactly what the modern, time-poor woman needs to help her look and feel her best self, when there’s barely time for lunch between meetings, let alone salon sessions or dedicated ‘me’ time. Alesha explains, “I believe it’s important to start with a good foundation for anything and that includes my beauty routine. A good healthy diet, vitamins to complement my diet and exercise are so important to me. Since I started using Swisse, I have genuinely felt a difference. The results have been fantastic – my nails are stronger, and my hair feels thick and healthy. It’s made my beauty routine so much simpler.” Alesha joins Academy Award winning actress, Nicole Kidman, who is the global ambassador for the brand.
