Mellow Duck podWhen founder of Mellow Duck, Helen Cook contacted me about a new venture she was setting up-upholstered pods perfect for families like mine, and in my hometown of Ilkley too (I grew up in this tiny town before moving to Leeds), I couldn’t wait to add one to my own home and spread the word on her beautiful new business.

Giving up her job in Edinburgh where she commuted weekly working for a UK Savings Bank, Helen has followed her passion creating stylish, practical and affordable pieces that will enrich your home, whatever your interior design.

The furniture is handcrafted in Leeds, Yorkshire and the pods can be used as pouffes, stools, side tables or even footstools and they come in a wide varieties of shapes, colours and sizes to fit your taste.

I love that the fabrics are inspired by the Yorkshire landscape and feature designs such as Grassington faux suede and dappled Saltaire wool. Music to this Yorkshire lass’s ears!

What’s more they are created with luxurious, stain resistant fabrics that are easy to clean –ideal for those with kids and/or pets and perfect for this little family.

I realise how lucky we are that so much of our home is care of of beautiful companies like Mellow Duck, pieces I select that truly fits our vibrant style and personalities. I like to keep the paint pale with most of the house in almond white, allowing the vibrant art, home furnishings and antiques do the talking!

Here we are enjoying our pod! Love these mother/son photos!

I’d go with the Cayuga in either black or purple – my mum loves the colour purple and I’d be giving it to her.

  2. Margaret Lee-Roberts in the red and grey mix which is the colour scheme in my living room.

The only trouble is, if I won one which of my girls would I give it to? There would be arguements, might have to just keep it for me, they are fab.

Well I thought I’d done well narrowing it down to then there’s the colour/pattern. There are so many to choose from. I love them all, just think I’d find it easier to use the Ancona as I’m pretty tall. As to the colour, I love the stripes but I also love the Teal. I think in teal. They are great.
