Weekend in Pictures: The Equerry Bolesworth International Horse Show & Harriet Thorpe’s Birthday

Yay for hot weather and practically tropical temps in the UK recently. Everyone always seems so much happier when the sun shines and like the rest of the UK, we spent the weekend outdoors, so we could bask in those glorious rays.

Where better to spend a sunny Saturday than at the Bolesworth International Horse Show at Bolesworth Castle in Tattenhall in Cheshire then!

A first-timer to the show,  I expected the entire event to be horse-focused (obviously) but was surprised to find a mini family-festival on the castle grounds with a water festival, dog show, pony rides, assault courses, stalls and even a motorbike extravaganza on offer.

I’ve attended family festivals with fewer fun things to do, than the Bolesworth and we loved every minute there.

We were kindly invited to enjoy the VIP package with a champagne lunch and afternoon tea as well as complimentary rides and activities we could all enjoy. The children kept thanking us over and over, grateful to be treated like little princes for the day.

After a delicious three course meal and bubbles, it was time to watch the show jumping as we cooed and gasped as they galloped along (some missing the jumps).

Then it was time for the kids to have a go on unicorns no less!  Huge thanks to Clip Clip Pony Rides for the fun these two had on their pretty ponies with pink and blue hair!

The rest of the day was spent soaking up the rays having the time of their little lives in the family area in the castle grounds where they enjoyed inflatable slides, water sports, mini golf, the carousel and football darts. They sure slept well after all of that!

It was then onto the motorbike display as this courageous trio flipped off their bikes and back on in mid-air much to our delight!

Ah-mazing!

There was something for everyone too as I even got a manicure after the show thanks to Carden Park Hotel in Cheshire who had a stall there. I love them!

Oliver loved the day so much, he referred to it as a vacay! ‘That was the best holiday ever, Mummy…even if it was a short one’. Bless his cotton socks!

Argh, what a sunny, happy-maker of a day. Thanks to Bolesworth for the invite.

….Sunday saw me dashing over to London from York for my great friend, the actress Harriet Thorpe’s birthday party at The Hoxton, Holborn for the most joyful of parties with an all-day brunch buffet, more champagne (lucky girl), the most touching and utterly hilarious speeches by her 91 year old father and best friend Jennifer Saunders respectively, and a chance to connect with gifted creatives all there to celebrate the an incredible lady: the smart, beautiful and brilliantly funny Harriet.

The room was brimming with love for Harriet. It was such a special day.

What a weekend!
