make up tutorial

It’s summer (or at least the closest thing we’ll get to a summer here in the UK), so I wanted to share some of my top tips on how to achieve the perfect dewy daytime make up look that works everyday in these ‘warmer months’.

I’m majorly passionate about make up and beauty ( I call it my armour-thanks Nigella), so I was delighted when bareMinerals got in touch, asking if I would like to review some new products from their collection. I’ve worked with bareMinerals before when I was commissioned to feature in a film showcasing their Bareskin Foundation and I truly adore this beautiful, mineral based, natural brand.

I also want to point out that although I was gifted the bareMinerals products, I haven’t been paid for the video and I’m only showcasing these products because I believe that they are some of the best on the market.

bareMinerals products

For me summer is about embracing and creating a natural, light glow, a lighter toned palette, using fewer products for a more carefree, easy day look.

The only thing that you should slap on in abundance is the SPF – everything else should be light and fresh to give the illusion of subtle or ‘no make up’.

So here’s my super quick summer daytime look. You don’t need a lot of skill to master it but I can guarantee an everyday flawless, natural finish.

You can watch the video and there’s more information on the products below.

I’m wearing bold and beautiful mint and red bloom necklace by Yosa in the video.

Product list:

Rapidlash Eyelash and Eyebrow Enhancing Serum (£41)

This award winning product does exactly what it says on the tin and I couldn’t live without it! I’m blessed with naturally dark eyelashes, so fortunately I can get away with not wearing mascara, which is great on hot sunny days or on holiday when I’m in and out of the pool or sea.

Since using the Rapidlash Serum, my lashes are noticeably longer, leaving me with more defined eyes even without make up and the lashes are definitely getting more luscious as Rapid Lash nourishes and lengthens.

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (£26)

This product is the holy grail for dry skin.  Combining skincare and natural looking coverage, it leaves a flawless hydrated finish.

bareMinerals’ own research shows this product results in a 215% increase in skin hydration after just 1 week and I have to agree.

After just a few days of using the product my skin felt noticeably softer and it kept my face feeling moisturised all day long too.

In fact, It’s so good I’d even go so far to say that you could use it instead of moisturiser! And because its SPF30, you can feel confident that you skin is being protected from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

I avoid using foundation everyday – only using it for special occasions and nights out so this tinted cream is perfect for me and creates that healthy glow I crave at this time of the year.

Like foundations, the Hydrating Gel Cream still gives perfect coverage and it’s easy to apply too. It’s available in 10 colours including shades for darker Afro-Caribbean skin too.

Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte Natural (£45)

To set the gel cream, I lightly apply my trusty Chanel Compact. It gives a translucent finish and ensures the cream stays in place so I don’t need to reapply later in the day.

It’s ultra-lightweight formula means that it doesn’t give that ‘caked’ look unlike many other powders on the market so ideal for the low maintenance look I’m after.

bareMinerals Pop of Passion Blush Balm (£20)

For a rosy cheek you can’t go wrong with the bareMinerals limited edition blush balm. Like the gel cream, this blush hydrates and nourishes your skin leaving you looking radiant and truly gorgeous.

This lightweight cream can easily be built up to create your desired shade and it’s versatile too as you can use it on your lips as well.

bareMinerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil-Balm £16

I’m a real lip balm girl so this product is heavenly ! Each balm is jam packed with vitamin E, leaving lips nourished and hydrated, whilst delivering a bright burst of colour.

Available in 8 summery shades, it’s a bolder alternative to a tinted lip balm and lasts for hours.

I was sent 2 colours – Tangerine Pop and Punch Pop – and both perfectly complimented by tanned olive complexion and I even mixed both shades together to create a slightly warmer look that would also work well in the autumn which you can see in the photos here.

This is one of those beauty heroes that will revolutionise your beauty regime and is perfect way to finish off your summer daytime make up look, ideal for every day.

So now you know my top make up tips for summer. I’d love to hear your fave products in the comments and let me know if you’ve used any of the products listed above or will be trying them.

I love my barely there, bareMinerals summer day look!
