…I write that Vero is a ‘much-needed’ app because it couldn’t have come at a better time. At a time we feel some other social apps are failing us as users. With the relentless and limiting algorithm changes to Facebook and Instagram both promoting models which rely on users to boost posts in order to achieve visibility, irrespective of talent or organic following, Vero is hopefully the answer we’ve all been waiting for when it comes to meaningful connections and PR online.
Tons of Brits downloaded the app over the weekend myself included (hence the crashing and glitching), fascinated by the promise of a chronological timeline untouched by random ‘algos’ and techy robots or whatever they are, informing what, whom and when we see content, rendering us powerless in the process.
The app is transforming social media by taking us right back to basics and the reason we first felt so excited on discovering FB and Twitter. Vero are empowering us through the simple mechanic of choice. We choose who are our friends or acquaintances are in their audience selector which informs what we see from our followers. Simple.
The first 1 million receive a free subscription for life (YAAS!) and this model means no ads, and actually paying for something we see value in rather than needing to pay to promote our content.
The website states: ‘When you can control who sees what, you can behave in a way that is more natural. We created a social network that lets you be yourself. Hence the name Vero. Meaning truth’.
Vero is slick af (when it works and it will work 100% soon) and has appeared to have merged all the handles we’ve come to rely on letting the user share links, statuses, photos, videos and mini blogs there.
Move over ‘terrestrial social media’ there’s a new gal in town and she’s switching things up and about time too.
Yes, there are some hiccups at the mo due to the sheer volume of sign-ups but these will be resolved soon enough and right now nothing can stall my excitement at a new handle YOU and I are 100% ready for.
Sign up too and enjoy. I’m Honest Mum there!
