I decided to concoct a sumptuous treat of a drink the other night that would work any time of the day that would definitely please/ease my sweet tooth. Et voila! Vegan chocolate, coconut, banana and oat smoothie.
A slow releasing, chocolate, oat, banana milkshake without the milk as it’s vegan.
Genius I hear you cry. Yup. I know right?!
It really is rather good.
I basically bunged all the things I love into a blender-rolled oats, coconut milk, maple syrup, desiccated coconut, melted 70% dairy-free dark chocolate chips and a bit water. Oh and ice. I like my shakes cold, folks.
So this is the drink that brings all the boys to my yard- and by boys, I mean one husband and two small children who all proclaimed it delicious. Yay!
I’ve remeasured and re created my handfuls of this and sprinkles of that for the purpose of this recipe (you’re welcome) so you can recreate it yourself.
This slurpy drink (it’s a thick one and needs re-blending if left in the fridge overnight) is utterly perfect for breakfast or even after a run to refuel, and I promise it will keep you full for hours.
Enjoy!
Serving: 2 large glasses
- 2 small handfuls of non dairy, dark chocolate chips (I used the microwave to melt)
- 2 small handfuls rolled oats (20g)
- 2 small handfuls unsweetened dessicated coconut
- 1 tin of organic full fat coconut milk (400ml)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 bananas
- Handful of ice
- 1 tbsp still water
Melt the chocolate and mix with the oats, add those and all the ingredients bar the ice and water to a blender and blend for 40 seconds.
Pour into a smoothie/mason jar, top with ice and water, stir with a straw and sup. Plant-based loveliness.
Gorge!
