My Cornwall Travel Tips

Cornwall is one of this family’s favourite staycation destinations and we’re not the only ones to love it as it receives approximately 5 million visitors each year.

So if you’re seeking a blend of adventure and relaxation, then this iconic location in the southwest is one of the best places to visit.

If you’re planning to stay at one of many Cornwall resorts anytime soon, check out my tips and recommendations to ensure you experience Cornwall in all its glory.

Immerse yourself in the coastal charm

Cornwall boasts some of the most breathtaking coastlines in the whole of the UK.

You can explore charming villages like St Ives, Port Isaac, and Padstow, and stroll through cobbled streets, visit art galleries, and savour the local cuisine at quaint cafes. And yet, there’s still much more to do.

Also, don’t forget to soak in the mesmerising views of the Atlantic Ocean on your travels!

Embrace the beach life

With over 300 miles of gorgeous coastline, Cornwall offers an abundance of beaches to choose from. From the popular golden sands of Fistral Beach to incredible, hidden coves like Kynance Cove, there’s a beach for everyone.

Whether you’re a surfer seeking the perfect wave to ride, or a family, like us, looking for a safe spot to build sandcastles and explore, Cornwall has everything you could ever want or need!

Discover the taste of Cornwall

Cornish cuisine is a popular choice for food enthusiasts. Indulge in a traditional Cornish pasty, freshly caught seafood, and sample local specialties like a famous cream tea. Funnily, Cornwall and its neighbouring county of Devon differ on the order of a cream tea. The Cornish cream tea spread the jam then the cream, the Devonians are cream then jam. I must say I’m with the Devonians on this one!

Be sure to visit local farmers’ markets too to taste the freshest, seasonal produce and artisanal goods on offer.

Explore historic landmarks

Cornwall is steeped in rich history, with ancient castles, mining heritage, and medieval architecture waiting to be explored.

The iconic Tintagel Castle perched on a dramatic cliff, for example, is a must-visit for history buffs. It is achingly beautiful so add to your to-do list!

Wonderful coastal walks

With its diverse landscapes, Cornwall offers some of the finest walking routes in the UK.

The South West Coast Path, stretching over 600 miles, is a perfect example. It provides stunning cliffs, hidden coves, and rolling hills.

Whether you’re a casual stroller or a seasoned hiker, there are trails suited to all levels and preferences. Do your research first though depending on the ages of your children if travelling as a family.

Enjoy the local culture

Cornwall has a vibrant cultural scene with art galleries, music festivals, and traditional events taking place throughout the year.

You can take a stroll through art galleries in St Ives, attend a local music gig, or immerse yourself in a traditional Cornish festival for an authentic holiday experience.

By following these simple tips, you’re bound to have a memorable Cornish holiday. From exploring historic sites to indulging in local cuisine and immersing yourself in the natural beauty of the coastline, Cornwall has something for every guest on your trip.
