A Tour Around Our House

house

We bought our house around 3 years ago (I think)…my memory is failing me now I’m nearing 37 😉 so I thought it was time to share it in full after a recent shoot with photographer Omar Khan of Living Home Photography. The house looks extra tidy due to the shoot so don’t be deceived into thinking it’s always like this. #iwish

I’ve supplemented a few pics here with some older ones of mine too but most are Omar’s…I do love a little snoop around people’s homes (invited of course, not stalker style) or via blogs and vlogs, so I thought you’d enjoy a look around our home too.

countryside

We live in a picturesque village in Yorkshire overlooking open countryside, about 30 minutes from York. It’s been a dreamy part of the world to raise babies who are now little people and it’s only a 15 minute drive from my folks’ house allowing us to all spend quality time together.

For superfans 😉 you might remember that I first blogged about the downstairs of our house a few years ago and of course our bathroom c/o Wickes last year as I tried to recreate the Flake ad, so you can check these posts out after reading this one, if you fancy it too!

For now though, come take a look around our 4 bedroom detached house.

I’ve excluded the utility room due to mess/low lighting and also the office/fourth bedroom as it was just too messy to showcase-the husband is clean but it’s organised-chaos in there and definitely not ‘blog-ready’ ;). My #mumboss office is the dining table (close to the fridge), just how I like it!

Now let me show you around…

Hallway and downstairs toilet

I love a mirror to open up space. Chandalier was from Home Base I think.

hallway

Heart shaped mirror was picked up a few years ago and my memory fails me on where we got it from. Print was a gift from my Mum when we moved in.

Lounge:

lounge

I love our lounge but we don’t spend enough time in there, as the kitchen is the heart of the home.

French Connection sofas, cushions and coffee table c/o DFS. Variety of prints L-R c/o Desenio, stunning prints Red Rot Rouge and The Woman of Paris c/o of Cara Gray.

Another Desenio print below too.

We’ve also recently added to the cushion collection with Lisa Todd Design‘s stunning linen, luxe geometric print cushions kindly gifted to us.

Photograph below is of the room when we first moved in, before the flooring was put in place and the carpet removed. It was all cream sofas and chocolate hand prints-argh!

Kitchen/diner

kitchen diner

I love how bright and vibrant the kitchen/diner is. It lets in all the light too and we love the holiday home vibe our house has.

Oak dining table and chairs were a wedding present from my Mum. Hanging light from Habitat. Memory fails me on where we got the huge mirror and clock. Soz!

Kitchen bar stools c/o MDM Furniture.

table setting

Local artist Rosemary Abrahams’ vivid contemporary oils with pastels hang above the dining table cum office and also in the lounge and landing.

diner

The kitchen diner leads into the conservatory/playroom, where the kids spend most of their days.

conservatory

Toy basket, shelves, desk, table and chairs all from JoJo Mama Bebe. Library c/o Tidy Books. They also gave us the book case below, in Oliver’s bedroom.

Exterior of the conservatory and back garden.

Swings in the garden c/o Wickey.

Now back inside and upstairs (told you it was a house tour)…Our master bedroom feature more prints from Desenio. I’ve also included a close up of the dressing table too from an older post as I cleared it for this recent shoot.

Chandelier from Homebase again.

We love our Queen size bed and lucky we have it as Alexander still likes to join us in there most nights!

master bedroom

More Desenio prints above my dressing table, and statement wallpaper is from Homebase.

dressing table

Mine and Peter’s bedroom leads into a Spanish style en suite wet room which is Peter’s favourite.

I prefer the bath (as many of you will know 😉 ).

Across the hall is Oliver’s bedroom (which is larger than it appears here but there were too many photos on the wall from school so Omar kept it as a tight shot). Both his and Xander’s beds have a movable desk underneath making it ideal to do homework on. There’s also lots of storage for toys, books and clothes. I’m struggling to find the exact model but these are similar.

bedroom

Alexander’s room below (again smaller that it actually is features the same bed and cute quirky pirate curtains. Xander cried when he first saw that he didn’t have the same anchor curtains as Oliver though. Sorry, I can’t remember where we got them from but there are some great choices here from Dunelm.

boy's bedroom

Adjacent to their rooms, is our dreamboat of a bathroom c/o Wickes.

And that’s it. Our maison.

Hope you like it!
