The Third Creative Women’s Network With Harriet Thorpe at Plate London

Plate RestaurantThe third Creative Women’s Network Event (founded by myself and YouTuber Maggy of Red Ted Art) was kindly held at the exquisite Plate Restaurant and Bar within the Montcalm Hotel in Shoreditch London, with special guest, my close friend and star of stage and screen, Harriet Thorpe.

Harriet shared her empowering words of wisdom (many which already feature in my blog with posts inspired by our calls, and of course in my book Mumboss which centre around not giving in to the fear, to remember that what other people think of you is none of your business and that we must press on following our dreams despite the trolls, naysayers and our own niggly voice of self doubt.

Harriet advises we ‘get out of your own way’ and ‘I am enough’.

When I grow up I want to be Harriet Thorpe.

Beautiful, talented and sisterly, Harriet has been my rock for many years, guiding me in this sometimes crazy media world and generally in life, and my dream is to direct a feature film one day with Harriet taking one of the leads. Universe, are you listening? Let’s make Mumboss the movie happen!

Speaking of movies, Harriet, Maggy and I also shared our tips and experience working in video both on and offline so we hope those who attended are going to make the leap or commit to producing video content more frequently as it’s power digitally and the reach of video is huge.

It was wonderful to have so many Creative Women network members attend again and the skills swap session (inspired by my pal Jessica Huie MBE) at the end of the event always brings people together so they can collaborate and support one another. We ask if any one currently seeks something and what they can offer in return so e.g. I am seeking social media support and in return I can write an article about your business in the magazine I edit.

The support doesn’t end there either as the conversation continues in the Creative Women’s Network FB group.

Huge thanks to Plate London for the incredible food, stunning location (those lights are the most instagrammable I’ve seen) and my stylist Lauren Jobling for making me feel a million dollars choosing this Karen Millen dress for me I was kindly gifted.

Floral prints, empowering words, a room full of women who want nothing more than to build one another up and a whole lot of laughter is a recipe for success, and I feel honoured to be part of this flourishing community. Thank you.
