The Perfect Day at Beautiful Beningbrough Hall

Do you know the ingredients to a perfect day? Well, I do *smug face.

Surround yourself with people you love in the most achingly beautiful of grounds overlooking open countryside as far as the eye can see, and add a pinch of sunshine. OK, make that a lot of sunshine. That’s it. That, my friends is all I need to be happy. Fresh air, great company, content kids. Oh and a delicious lunch to boot, please. You know me and my food!

Well, check, check, check and check to all of the above on Saturday at one of this family’s happy places: Beningbrough Hall.

Simply glorious gardens surround this beautiful baroque mansion with National Portrait Gallery paintings within, making it the ideal place to spend the weekend at, and no more so than when the sun, shines.

Look at that enchanting blossom. Wow!

Hunters firmly on, my new pink Barbour jacket on my back and the boldest of Chanel shades (standard Yorkshire attire-shades and wellies), I was ready for the day. Meeting one of my closest friends, Becci and her family there, we walked, played, put the world to rights and laughed until our faces ached.

Bliss.

We also plotted a move into a Baroque mansion of our own one day. #Housegoals or what?!

With the dreamiest of playgrounds hidden beneath the shade of trees in what feels like a magical garden, the kids built dens and played on the swings and slides before enjoying a bit of bull spotting (as you do).

When the sun decided to nap behind the clouds, we warmed up in the restaurant on site, with some homemade leek and potato soup followed by oaty flapjackets and Earl Grey tea, and promised to return again, soon.

What a dreamboat of a day.
