Dress: H&M, shoes: Vivienne Westwood, clutch: River Island.
I stumbled across this H&M sheer panelled beauty years ago, so many years ago, I literally can’t remember how many but I love it dearly. This photo was taken last year or the year before (apols that my memory is so shoddy right now, the house/town move has messed with my head)!
It’s been to the Cannes Film Festival with me, it’s enjoyed date nights with the husband, cocktails with the girls, trips all over the world from Greece to Jamaica and back again and it’s basically lived its best life on my back the lucky thing! Most importantly, it never dates.
It’s the most perfect LBD in the world!
The sheer panels, the fact it doesn’t cling to the mumtum, gliding over it making me feel 18 again (with a little help from my friends Spanx/M&S hold-in Bridget Jones style knickers), basically makes me feel sassy af.
I wish I’d bought a few of these frocks had I known how much I’d love it (and for how long)-but I didn’t and I only have one of these so I’ll cry my heart out if anything happens to it.
I love when fashion or items like your car for eg. supersede their material use to such an extent, they come to define you somehow, or at least transport you back to the memories made in them every time you wear them.
I even wore this LBD in a photo shoot I had with the renowned photographer Joseph Sinclair a few years back, and was tempted to put it back on, on a recent one with him for my photo shoot. I didn’t.
I have some designer pieces, mostly bags and dresses in my wardrobe that will hopefully last forever and a whole lot of pretty high street pieces (tea dresses, jump suits, jackets etc) with some that naturally won’t stand the test of time due to be trend-based pieces/more disposable fashion (future charity shop fare) but this, THIS beauty is timeless and won’t date a day, don’t you think?!
Have you got any pieces you couldn’t live without?
