My most favourite opera of all and the very first my mother saw in her teens, made for an extra special evening at The Grand in Leeds for Opera North's epic operatic and most tragic love story, La traviata.
Saturday evening saw me take out my favourite lady, my Mum, for a night at the opera-Opera North's 'The Marriage of Figaro' to be precise for a spot of culture in a spotty dress!
Welcome to my new monthly feature-Who's The Daddy!
A huge fan of blogs penned by fathers, I wanted to showcase the rich, insightful and damn right captivating male bloggers who share their point of view on all things parenting and beyond, right here on my blog, once a month with a guest post from each contributor.
I'll be tweeting about it using the hashtag #whosthedaddy too if you want to get involved!
I don't have a daughter but I know that lots of my readers do, and being a big fan of heidi klein, (the UK’s first luxurious one-stop beachwear destination) I had to share their exclusive swimwear collection for girls ages 2-10 years. They are utterly beautiful!
Ok so we all know 'normal' doesn't really exist but surely everyone can relate to that very real pressure to fit in, you know, feeling like you're doing the right thing, ticking the boxes of thriving at life, parenting, your job....this oh so common weighing yourself up against the 'norms' and trying not to feel the odd one out...
Over on my style blog Mummy's Got Style, it's #Fashionfriday, a linky for all you fashionistas where you can add style posts of you and your kids or fashion wish-lists. All style related posts are welcome- new, archived and as many posts as you like! Everybody's welcome too of course!
The fabulous folks at Yellow Mellon sent my sons some beautiful summery pieces for review so we hit the park with the very talented Kirsty Mattsson of Kirsty Mattsson Photography for a shoot in the sunshine!
I love a bit of monochrome and this summer Aztec style print dress in black and white from Dorothy Perkins simply makes me smile. It's comfortable enough to run around little people in but doesn't compromise on style!
I am a seriously lucky lady as recently Luxe-Layers gifted me this beautiful designer dress by Brazilian designer Lucidez which I review in full over on my style blog Mummy's Got Style: HERE.
With the World Cup, we are all currently and right so- Brazil-crazy but let me tell you I've always been a fan of Brazilian fashion (food and film) and scored a goal of my own (sorry) when stunning Luxe-Layers, a beautiful boutique and online shop from my old neighbourhood Barnes in London contacted me to gift me this captivating dress by Rio based designer Lucidez. I'm in love....
On the 2nd of July, I had a wonderfully girly day with my glam Mummy (another Mummy with style) in London as we attended the Jacques Vert press day at the very swanky No. 5 Cavendish Square.
Saturday night was spent with old friends for a girly dinner at one of my parent's restaurants The Olive Tree, catching up, enjoying great Greek food and the odd glass of Prosecco too.
If there wasn't enough anxiety-filled pressure when you're pregnant (big bump, little bump, too much weight, not enough) once you pop that baby out or have him airlifted as I did twice, first an emergency, second an elective (the latter a whole other set of pressures, of which I ignored wholeheartedly) you are quickly, at least with first baby anointed with parenting pressures.
