Instagram post 2200047031916951476_537862275 I was back on @bbcbreakfast this morning in Manchester discussing tipping/gifting at Christmas. Don’t break the bank of course or feel pressured to give but if you can afford to/ can spare the time, please do think of how you might be able to spread some gratitude over the festive period, particularly to those who work hard so hard all year for you (post men and women, bin men/ women, teachers etc) be it a bottle of wine, chocolates or why not bake something yourself (my kids like to make Christmas biscuits for their teachers)...Or how about leaving a kind review on TripAdvisor or tweeting thanks for a great service (we are all so quick to complain but need to remember to praise too). It all adds a little Christmas magic 💫! I’ll share the video clip later. Did you tune in? 📺 (Showing my gratitude now to the fab brands: @bombshellhq for my dress, @ellecourbee bodyshaper underneath, @trend_tonic for my earrings, @bardotboho for my bracelets, @nellanddigby for my necklace, @lotusshoes1759 for my boots, all styled by @ljstyling. Thank you all and @intolerantgourmand for the photo of me on screen ❤️ #gift #ad).
Instagram post 2199687569745522630_537862275 Merci beaucoup to @maitrechoux on the King’s Road for a fab festive eclair decorating workshop on Saturday the kids got to consume afterwards. The best bit: the boys didn’t argue for a whole hour. Amazing 🤣. Thanks to Phil, the chef 👨‍🍳 #gift #ad #kids #family #dayout #honestmum #familyfun #children #mum #mumboss
Instagram post 2199047848207891086_537862275 Wow, and I thought the baby/toddler years were hard (and they were) but having a soon-to-be 10 year old is another level of challenges and lessons. The parenting complexities of supporting a child going through puberty isn’t something spoken or written about enough, in my opinion. Teens, yes. Tweens, not so much. It often feels exhausting...Throwing it back to when my boy let me dress him up as a Baby Santa, tantrummed less (really) and didn’t tell me hates me every other day 😢. Don’t get me wrong, some days are full of life affirming fun with my best friend (our daily 6 mile school-run power walks together are my favourite time of day as we put the world to rights, Google crazy science facts and co create comedy kids’ stories), it’s just other days can stretch me to my limit as I try to help him navigate hormonal changes and this unsolicited strange new path of self-discovery he’s found himself on. His life and how he sees it and the world around him, is literally changing by the day. He hangs on my every word, desperate to know everything and understand fully (if only I had all the answers) and boy, does he never miss a beat. I’m just worried I’m the one missing a beat or not always steering the ship to shore (saying the right thing or meeting his ever changing needs)...Advice welcome and gratefully received 🙏
Instagram post 2197125004796992173_537862275 Please vote today ✅ ❌ for your future and importantly, theirs. It’s cold, it’s wet, you’re busy but it will be the most vital thing you’ll do all day. #vote 🗳
Instagram post 2196757947076677664_537862275 MOOD 😖😤😬😢. Alexander’s earlier today, and mine 😡. This is an old photo when he used to tantrum so often as a toddler, taking a pic of him mid cry (bless him) wasn’t hard. I’m equally feeling annoyed, drained and near meltdown myself. So much so, I’ve put my Out Of Office on my emails so I can take a breather. Life, work, Christmas prep and the endless juggle feels stifling at the mo. When it came to Xander 7’s tantrum earlier, he started shouting because I missed his ten billionth question because I was on the phone to my Mum on a busy, loud street, and he lost it. I shouted back fisherman’s wife style (who I’m presuming were kindly bestowed that titled because they would shout out to the high seas and their absent husbands in sheer exhaustion from the childcare load). Anyway, now I feel bad. A bad mum. I know I’m not, I’m just human but I was Shouty Mum tonight. My kid clearly takes after me 🤪. I’ve apologised. We’ve hugged...He’s not sleeping well either which could be why he’s more emotional. He’s been waking up in the middle of the night and coming into our bed and I’ve lost track how long this has gone on for. Chatting it through with him, it seems his imagination is in complete overdrive (he mentioned cartoon aliens or something). Any advice gratefully received 🙏. Argh, isn’t it the most wonderful time of the year 😩! Anyone else feeling a tiny bit broken right now, too?
Instagram post 2194570561488042829_537862275 My kids have mostly been little sh*** this weekend in all honesty but for 6 hot minutes there they stopped squabbling and asked, yes asked, to be in a photo with their long-suffering mum. Hands up who else is having one of those weekends? 🙋🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️. Something that did make me smile this weekend was sequinned jumper of dreams by @jjboutiqueuk and soft faux fur leopard print cross bag I’ve not taken off (#gift #ad). Definitely feeling more festive thanks to the sparkles and our tree is being delivered tomorrow (cue more arguments no doubt)...I usually ask, ‘Is it nearly the weekend?’ but roll on Monday I say and some peace and quiet!

Instagram post 2191717852355255313_537862275 Anyone else feeling emotionally and physically exhausted with the load that is motherhood at the moment? My husband commented I need a holiday the other day-think I need a solo flipping holiday. Can’t wait to head home to my folks over Christmas so I can be a child myself again. Sending love to all my fellow mamas holding everything together. I see you, I hear you, I am you ❤️. Illustration by epic talent @designsbykarina of a photo by creative hero @takenword for @metro.co.uk . Thank you both 🙏
Instagram post 2190723493565205561_537862275 The @metro.co.uk came to photograph us in our rented apartment in Windsor if you fancy a snoop around (Link is in the bio). Brexit has prevented us from selling our house in Yorkshire but hopefully we’ll sell next year and buy in Berkshire. More pics in the piece. Thank you Jerry @takenword for your super pics and being such a joy to work with 📸
